Is this an exception to the rule? #tcot #tppatriots

As grassroots activists who believe that the federal government should not be regulating things that were not specified in the U.S. Constitution, we should not be advocating for federal rules to direct the actions of states. In some cases, however, states that adopt rules that are in conflict with Constitutional principles or with provisions of legally adopted Amendments, require direction to reduce the potential for legal conflict between states and the flagrant violation of Constitutional rights. We must recognize that interaction among citizens of several states might otherwise be hazardous if not for the “regulation” of the federal system. (In the Constitutional meaning, “regulation” means – to make regular!)CAALogo (1)

Last week, Mark Meckler, co-founder of Tea Party Patriots, was arrested at New York City’s LaGuardia Airport on a gun charge!  He currently faces 15 years in prison.  Yet, he had in his possession a concealed-carry permit (and the weapon may actually have been in the possession of a “common carrier”).

He has been released following his arraignment, charged with a felony, with a court date set for January 12th in New York City.

Many pro-gun activists have said that he was possibly “singled out” by the Obama administration because of his being who he is.

EPA Ponders Expanded Regulatory Power In Name of 'Sustainable Development'

Read more: FOX News

By George Russell - Published December 19, 2011  epa_oil_spill_inspection2

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency wants to change how it analyzes problems and makes decisions, in a way that would give it vastly expanded power to regulate businesses, communities and ecosystems in the name of “sustainable development,” the centerpiece of a global United Nations conference slated for Rio de Janeiro next June.

The major focus of the EPA thinking is a weighty study the agency commissioned last year from the National Academies of Science. Published in August, the study, entitled “Sustainability and the U.S. EPA,” cost nearly $700,000 and involved a team of a dozen outside experts and about half as many National Academies staff.

Its aim: how to integrate sustainability “as one of the key drivers within the regulatory responsibilities of EPA.” The panel who wrote the study declares part of its job to be “providing guidance to EPA on how it might implement its existing statutory authority to contribute more fully to a more sustainable-development trajectory for the United States.”

Or, in other words, how to use existing laws to new ends.

Focus on Agenda 21 Should Not Divert Attention from Homegrown Anti-Growth Policies

By Wendell Cox , Ronald Utt, Ph.D. and Brett Schaefer
December 1, 2011

Abstract: Agenda 21, a voluntary plan adopted at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, unabashedly calls on governments to intervene and regulate nearly every potential impact that human activity could have on the environment. However, Agenda 21 is non-binding; it depends on governments for implementation. If opponents focus excessively on Agenda 21, it is much more likely that homegrown smart-growth policies that undermine the quality of life, personal choice, and property rights in American communities will be implemented by local, state, and federal authorities at the behest of environmental groups and other vested interests. Preventing American implementation of Agenda 21 should therefore be viewed as only one part of a broader effort to convince U.S. government officials to repeal destructive smart-growth programs and prevent the enactment of new ones.

Obama & Neo-Cons moves to obliterate Posse Comitatus.

Obama & Neo-Cons move to obliterate Posse Comitatus.

From Examiner.com…
America is a “battleground” says South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham.
The US government has been slowly eradicating the Posse Commitatus Act of 1878. That act banned the US government from using the US military in domestic law enforcement. Over the past few decades the US government has repeatedly violated the act. However, many Republicans have insisted that the Posse Commitatus Act needs to be respected to protect the rights of American Citizens.
South Carolina’s left-wing Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, however, is supporting provisions to eradicate Posse Commitatus and dramatically expand the powers of the Federal government.
The US Senate Armed Forces Committee, led by Carl Levin (D-MI) and John McCain (R-AZ), held a secret closed door session to insert ominous new Federal powers into the Defense Authorization Bill. This is the annual bill to fund the US military. These new powers were requested by the Obama administration.
The provisions would give the Federal government the power to insert the military into domestic law enforce and detain suspects indefinitely. While they claim that it will help “fight terrorism,” there is no limits to how the new powers could be abused. Critics call it an explicit creation of a police state.
American citizens would be denied all constitutional protections and there would be no oversight to prevent abuse. This is the same Federal government that intervened on behalf of the “underwear bomber” to get him on a plane to the US, even after his own father warned that he was a terrorist. This is the same US government that shadowed two of the 911 highjackers all the way from Malaysia, yet did nothing to stop them. We would be trusting the same people to decide who’s constitutional rights to suspend.

Senate To Vote On Legislation That Allows U.S. Military to Detain Americans Without Charge or Trial

READ THE BILL

Remember that debate between Ron Paul and Newt Gingrich, where Mr. Gingrich suggested we should expand and strengthen the Patriot Act in the name of protecting US citizens from terrorists? Mr. Gingrich indicated that there exists a line between criminal law and the war on terror, and that we need not worry the government will overstep its bounds.

While Americans enjoy the Thanksgiving weekend and join the annual running of the bulls celebration at malls and retail outlets, something sinister is taking place in Congress - and it should scare the hell out of you. If the President and Senate have their way, your front lawn will soon become a battlefield, and you'll be subjected to military, not criminal, law.

The Federal ID that Pays Illegal Aliens Billions a Year

Established 15 years ago, the Individual Taxpayer Identification Number [ITIN] is a seemingly innocuous administrative requirement that the Internal Revenue Service assigns to anyone who is employed and pays taxes. According to the IRS website, the numbers are used for federal tax reporting only. But since ITINs, as they are commonly known, are issued to wage earners regardless of immigration status, they’ve frequently been abused by the aliens who hold them.

Although the real estate crisis is fading from our memory, it’s important to recall that the ITIN was the vehicle used in lieu of Social Security numbers, which then legitimized the disastrous lending policy of providing home mortgages to unqualified illegal aliens. With bankers as their willing abettors, and while the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation purposely looked the other way, aliens took out home loans using ITINs as their major form of identification. Bankers, only too-eager to accommodate poverty-level applicants with balloon financing for homes they could barely make the first payment on, raked in big money.  To the bankers, aliens represented the “new market.” Today, five years later, the nation is still reeling from the avalanche of foreclosures that followed.

Open Letter to Senator Bill Nelson and Mr. Adam Putnam

by Geoff Ross

Time for you both to resign your posts for failing to protect the sovereignty of the State of Florida.

Dear Patriots,

Land across this United States of America including the State of Florida is slowly being sold out to the United Nations. This has created a major sovereignty and Constitutional issue. This is an issue that is also supported by elected officials who have been entrusted with protecting our nation and our Constitution.

One of our Senators in Florida, Mr. Bill Nelson, is actively involved in trying to buy private land, using money borrowed from Communist China and other nations to then put in the hands of the federal government and then ultimately place it under control of the United Nations.

Senator Bill Nelson has joined with the US Department of Agriculture and the US Department of Interior to purchase farm land and ranch land from Florida farmers and ranchers and then sell it to the Federal Government so that they can hand it over to the United Nations for management and control.

Florida has a Commissioner of Agriculture, Adam Putnam, who is tasked by Floridians under the 9th and 10th Amendments of the Constitution to protect our farm land and agricultural industry which is now under attack by Senator Bill Nelson and the Obama Administration.

Adam Putnam is now indirectly supporting a United Nations land grab by Senator Nelson and other Communists in our government.

Time for Another Look at the GOP Bench

November 19, 2011

By Chet Arthur

At the outset of the Civil War, President Lincoln said of the Union armies that "there are many single Regiments whose members possess full practical knowledge of all the arts and sciences, professions, and whatever else, whether useful or elegant, is known in the world; and there is scarcely one, from which there could not be selected a President, a Cabinet, a Congress, and perhaps a Court abundantly competent to administer the government itself."

He said this was true not only of the Union regiments, but also, amazingly, of the Confederate regiments.  What an awe-inspiring statement.  Can this high calling inspire us today?  I hope so.

I have expressed in these pages my hopes that Sen. Marco Rubio would consent to run for president.  He apparently has concluded [that he] cannot, must not.  In any other time, this would be commendable modesty, admirable restraint. But now, when so much is at stake, it is to be much regretted.

So we must search the regiments.  The rise and fall of various contenders in the GOP field prove how much the party grassroots wants someone who is not Romney.  This aversion is real and could prove fatal next November if the party bosses persist in giving us yet another nominee whom we do not want.  Charles Krauthammer, that brilliant mind, has never worked a precinct.  He says voter intensity doesn't matter.  All votes count the same in the voting booth.

True enough.  But voter intensity determines how many people and which ones ever enter those booths.  Voter intensity is what staffs phone banks, what propels people to get up before dawn and hold signs for their man (or woman) on a cold, wet November morning.  Napoleon understood this better than Krauthammer when he said the morale of an army is ten times as important as their supplies.

Will Hear "Tea Party Challenge" From Two NJ Plaintiffs
The United States Supreme Court has agreed to hear several challenges  to Obamacare ("The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act") in addition to the three major cases already scheduled.  As reported in the Essex County Conservative Examiner story Miracle on 34th Street these are Florida ex rel. Bondi et al. v. HHS et al and Purpura v. Sebelius.  The latter case, Supreme Court Docket Number 11-7275, was brought by two New Jersey citizens, Nicholas E. Purpura of Wall Township and Donald R. Laster Jr of West Long Branch.  It covers an exceptionally wide range of issues, including whether President Obama is in fact qualified by his citizenship to hold that office.  They list the topics in their press release (included below).

THE QUIET COUP: The implementation of Agenda 21

July 18, 2011 by ppjg

People have noticed the 25 government agencies on Obama’s new White House Rural Council.  And, they’re questioning what might be the need for all of them.

What people may not have noticed yet, is that the government agencies in this council are also on other councils.  These councils, as well as the individual government agencies, are implementing international laws that have taken effect through Executive Orders, Memorandums of Understanding, agreements and regulations that most Americans don’t even know about.  These have bypassed Congress.  And, it also seems they have completely bypassed the Constitution.

FPL and Smart Meter Installations

Be Aware of the Issues

Stuart, FL – 14 Nov2011.  These are the "contractors" FPL sent to install the smart meters. The truck says they clean out dryer vents when they're not installing spy devices in your home. See our newsletter on the SmartMeter issue. Go to http://stopsmartmeters.org/ for more info.

The installers were sent away, and a staff member (Cynthia) from the office of CEO Olivera of FPL called on the same day. She acknowledged that Mr. Olivera received our certified letter informing them of our choice to “opt out” of their smart meter program. Cynthia was very cordial and told us the meters would not be changed.

Congressman: Science 'czar' giving China U.S. technology

'Following law not voluntary for administration officials'

A congressman says he's alarmed that President Obama's science "czar," John Holdren, apparently has been collaborating with the Chinese even though Congress specifically prohibited that activity in a bill signed into law by his boss, Obama.

The accusations from U.S. Rep. Frank Wolf. R-Va.,came this week in a hearing of the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.

The committee was listening to testimony about China's espionage in the United States and "the violation of the law by the director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy."

Wolf noted he opposed the idea that the U.S. should work with China in any way regarding that nation's space program.

"The Chinese space program is being led by the People's Liberation Army, and to state the obvious, the PLA is not our friend as evidenced by their recent military posture and aggressive espionage against U.S. agencies and firms," Wolf said.

His concern was raised because NASA Administrator Charlie Bolden had scheduled a trip to China to talk about cooperation between NASA and the Chinese army, and Holdren made multiple trips to China for weeks of meetings.

The 99%: Official list of Occupy Wall Street’s supporters, sponsors and sympathizers

pajamas

October 31, 2011 - 10:48 am - by Zombie

The Occupy Wall Street movement has received so much media coverage in recent weeks that it’s nearly impossible to keep abreast of all the developments. So many endorsements and criticisms coming from all directions enter the news cycle in such rapid succession that even the most dedicated news junkies may have missed out on many of the pronouncements. Supporters and detractors of OWS both might find it useful to have a handy all-inclusive list of who has endorsed or embraced the protest.

To satisfy that demand, we hereby present a list of groups, organizations, individuals and entities that have expressed their support for, sponsorship of, or sympathy for the Occupy Wall Street movement.

Note: All entries on this list are real and verified. Below each entry you will find a series of source links documenting the support for OWS. We have striven in almost all cases to reference either first-hand statements by the groups or individuals themselves, hosted on their own Web sites; or videos of the people in question voicing their support for OWS at various Occupations; or news reports from reliable mainstream networks; or articles by publications or organizations sympathetic to the Occupy movement; or indisputable evidence, whatever the source. As a result, it cannot be claimed that these statements of support were made up or distorted by detractors of the Occupy movement.

As each new controversial endorsement has appeared over the last month, OWS supporters have dismissed them one by one as “isolated examples” that don’t reflect any overall trend toward extremism. But when viewed in aggregate like this, it becomes much more difficult to dismiss any individual endorsement as an aberration; instead, an undeniable pattern emerges.

This list is obviously incomplete; we hope to update it over the upcoming days and weeks.

Could Rising GOP Tide Swamp Debbie Wasserman Schultz?

SunshineNewslogo

By: KENRIC WARD | Posted: November 2, 2011

Republicans smell blood in the coastal waters off South Florida's 20th Congressional District, where Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz is running for a fifth term.
Four GOP hopefuls are vying for the right to take on the Fort Lauderdale congresswoman, who also chairs the Democratic National Committee. Coming off the 2010 elections, when Florida Republicans picked up four House seats, Wasserman Schultz's challengers figure she's ripe for a fall in 2012.

"If not now, then when?" asks Joe Kaufman. "She's killing herself on the issues."
Joe Goldner says Wasserman Schultz "threw her constituency under the bus for Barack Obama." Citing her extensive travels as DNC boss, Goldner contends that the congresswoman is "not connected to the district anymore."

The Same People Who Created Barack Obama Have Created Occupy Wall Street

Last post 10-30-2011 11:52 AM by Ekko - by Ulsterman on October 27, 2011

While attempting to give the appearance of a “leaderless” movement, Occupy Wall Street is in fact the result of a very calculating and dangerous organization of radicalized anti-Americans who have infected U.S. politics at the highest levels of government – including the White House.

A quick review of the occupywallst.org website revealed a very telling passage at the bottom of the site’s ”About” page that states the following:

On 13 Jul 2011, the group Adbusters released this call: Occupy Wall Street!

In Solidarity, and as a response to this call, a planning group was formed [occupywallst.org], and an info sharingsite established. The participation of every person, and every organization, that has an interest in returning the US back into the hands of its individual citizens is required.

Our nation, our species and our world are in crisis. The US has an important role to play in the solution, but we can no longer afford to let corporate greed and corrupt politics set the policies of our nation.

We, the people of the United States of America, considering the crisis at hand, now reassert our sovereign control of our land.

Solidarity Forever!

Despite a rather weak denial to being associated with the Adbusters group (based out of Vancouver BC of all places), the “About Us” page on the occupywallst. shows a clear and direct link to that group – for according to those responsible for the Occupy webpage, the movement’s genesis was the call to arms initiated by Adbusters. So who then is Adbusters?

GOP Elite Declares War on Tea Party

October 13, 2011 - BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Ladies and gentlemen, there's a big piece in the New York Times Magazine coming this weekend.  It is entitled:  "Does Anyone Have a Grip on the GOP?"  The subhead:  "The Republican Elite Tries to Take Its Party Back."  This article prints like 24 pages.  It is a major, major New York Times Magazine piece.  It confirms everything that I have thought, everything I have speculated, everything I have said about the battle between the Republican elite and the Tea Party.

I can't read the whole thing on the program; I don't intend to.  I've got some highlights or quotes that are illustrative here, but this is an open declaration of war from the GOP elites to the Tea Party, and it's right there in the New York Times.  And these Republican establishment types are more than willing to be quoted by name, and what I think it all means is they think that they've beaten the Tea Party hordes back.  Do you realize that Chuck Schumer and a bunch of Democrats are running around campaigning now against the Tea Party. The Tea Party poses the greatest threat to this country.  The Tea Party is a bunch of racist, sexist bigots.  This is the message and the Republican elite, while not joining word for word that message, are still joining with the Democrats in the notion that the Tea Party is a problem and needs to be beaten back.

Why we cannot ALL be Libertarians

We posted a previous article (Jack Hunter video) which explained Rep. Ron Paul’s view on the illegality of unilateral military action (assassination) against an “enemy” combatant, citizen or otherwise. This blog post from chanel on USMessageBoard.com goes a long way to explaining the history of the other side, which, boiled down, says that wartime behavior is not covered by our Constitution and we should not pretend that it is. We subscribe to other “conventions” of war and those are the subjects of Congressional approval. The U.S. Constitution constructs the framework for civil society in the U.S. and when that civility is attacked, it must be defended, sometimes at war. Attackers who make war on the U.S. repudiate the Constitution, and thereby relinquish the protections that otherwise flow from it (imho). On the other hand, if we are practicing what appears to be assassination, are we not sanctioning it for others?

http://www.usmessageboard.com/history/136609-from-the-halls-of-montezuma-to-the-shores-of-tripoli.html

It would be great if we lived in a world where the intellectual purity of Dr. Paul’s position was embraced by all people. That is not the case. That world does not exist and will never exist as long as it is populated by humans.

MARCH TO THE BEAT OF A REAL WORLD. POST 79

CHEERS, CONNIE: MARCH TO THE BEAT OF A REAL WORLD. POST 79:

To hear the media tell it, they're marching all over THE Wall STREET brokers and causing untold confusions. Unfortunately, the media made the mistake of showing an overhead view of the marchers and if they were more than 500, they must have been hiding. In a country peopled by over 312 Million, that's not even a "drop in the bucket". The press modified its propaganda by saying there are uprisings in cities over the country. Well, there was a group in a Miami, Florida park this week who were barbecuing politicians and bankers verbally rather than picnicking.

My Advise for @theHermanCain

After listening to the ridiculous treatment of Herman Cain by certain members of the press, I am embarrassed for journalism. I don’t presume to call myself a journalist, but their behavior embarrasses all Americans.

My advise for Herman Cain would be for him to embrace and explain his basic Republican philosophy every time they try to pin him into their rhetorical model. For example:

Florence O’Dumbell: Do you stand by your statement that all Blacks are brainwashed?

Mr. Cain: Florence, you are misquoting my statement, but I understand why. From your socialist perspective, you cannot grasp the basic and fundamental Republican principle to avoid categorizing and separating people into classes, races and interest groups. By focusing on development of opportunity for all Americans, this divisive tendency of the Democrat Party will not be an issue. “Brainwashing” was just a colorful way to refer to this destructive Democrat strategy.

Florence O’Dumbell: In your book you mentioned that you made a decision not to join in the racial protest movements of the 1960’s. Do you regret that?

Mr. Cain: No, Florence. We had a different opinion on how to transcend the racial prejudice that existed back then. At that time we did not see the value in a “collective expression,” given the poor success of protest movements of the past. Our approach was to excel on a personal level to raise the family out of poverty. We saw the issue as basically economic opportunity, not racial. The words in my book on this subject are meant to be a testament to the bravery and foresight of the marchers and protesters, led by the non-violent elements of the group formed by Dr. King. At that time we did not see that as a viable strategy back then, but it has proved to be the right movement at the right time. The actual protesters were a small minority, and we were not among them. Most Americans were observers in that movement.

Herman Cain should remember he is not auditioning for the media operators, he is presenting his case to the voters. So far he has done extremely well. But the media traps still await him.

Handing The Microphone Back To The People

The tea parties exist because we were being lied to. The media was complicit in this lie. We were not being told that our government was spending us into oblivion. We were not told that our “leaders” were making plans with others to erase American sovereignty. We were not told that schools were being transformed into propaganda agents for socialism and globalism and environmentalism and statism. We were not told of the monstrous plan to redistribute the wealth of the United States to third-world organization by use of a carbon trade scheme, a worldwide tax on financial transactions and government grants through the President’s Council on Sustainable Development.

This is the New Media.

Don’t Let Republicans Fool You – Tenth Amendment Center

People often express their confusion at why others, who are obviously Party “believers”, are committed to tea party principles and are ready to struggle with the established Republican hierarchy. This article goes a long way toward explaining the rift. Those who were in charge when the government took its slide toward socialism are naturally suspected by the grassroots as responsible in every way. By default or by design, their lack of principles has betrayed the Constitution of the United States.

Why Does DNCC Chair Steve Israel (D-NY) Accept Campaign Donations From a Man Convicted of Selling Arms to Iran?

In politics you can tell a lot about someone by the donations they accept. As far as my Congressman (and chairman of the NDCC) Steve Israel he is accepting donations from a man convicted of illegally selling arms to Iran. His name is Parviz Lavi and According to campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) has taken $6,500 from Parviz Lavi since 2006.

Looking out for the LITTLE GUY

While the rest of us are meeting in Orlando to find a Republic Standard Bearer for the 2012 election (to defeat the Obama Machine), Vice Pres. JoeBiteMe is coming down to Miami to consult with one of the Progressive Best for a little “redistribution” of our wealth. The struggle for the rights of the oppressed continues in the Miami home of  Michael M. Adler, Chairman of the Adler Group.

Isn’t it inspiring that people like these can fight the millionaires and billionaires with their big corporate jets mentality and the greed that compels them to resist the Obama juggernaut? Why must the greedy Republicans continue to prevent Obama from raising the debt ceiling once again to “create jobs?” But I digress…

While Republicans are hatching plots to uncover the hypocrisy of the Progressive/socialist message, the gritty work goes on in that socializing manner that true radicals embrace. With dedication and zeal, Progressives suffer through the Miami heat to bring poor Joe Biden a meager repast on September 23. Where else can you see the “people’s work” being done for Social Justice?

The Ultimate Authority . . . Resides in the People Alone: The People and the Constitution

The Ultimate Authority . . . Resides in the People Alone: The People and the Constitution
When Ronald Reagan proclaimed in his first inaugural “We are a nation that has a government—not the other way around,” he was not taking off on some libertarian tangent or making an obscure philosophical point. He was following in the footsteps of the Founding Fathers who erected a frame of government that began with the words “We the People.” He was also trying to return government to its important but limited role in people’s lives—a role that both political leaders and the people understood until 1912 but has been mostly misunderstood and abandoned since then. At Philadelphia in 1787, the Framers of the Constitution created a national government that would be effective—even energetic—in its functions but also limited to those functions. The people were to be the ultimate guardians of both the effectiveness and limitations of government. The only way such a republic—unprecedented in modern history—could work would be if the people acted as a vigilant and constitutionally-minded sovereign jealous of their rights.

There Is a Real Chance to Stop Funding for “Sustainable Communities.”

Action Alert:

(This in from Virginia property rights activist Cathy Turner)

The House of Representatives have cut funding from Obama’s Partnership for Sustainable Communities program. The program has been targeted for elimination from the House FY 2012 spending bill.

Defunding Sustainable Development has also come through a Department of Transportation bill, a draft of which completely eliminates funding for what are called TIGER grants, which provides funding for the largest grants through the Partnership for Sustainable Communities program. This is great news for those of us opposed to Sustainable Development. It means less money and fewer weapons coming out of Washington, DC to enforce this assault on property rights and America’s way of life. Now the spending bill is moving to the Senate – the danger zone.

The brewing Republican-Tea Party civil war

Posted by Judson Phillips on August 27, 2011 at 7:56am in Tea Party Nation Forum

Since the Tea Party began, there has been an on going debate within the Tea Party about the Republican Party and what the Tea Party’s relationship with the GOP should be.  Pressures are now building and if the Parties are not careful, they could blow into a full-fledged rupture between the GOP and the Tea Party.

What are these pressures?

It is more of the ongoing war that the GOP has kept under wraps for the last 30 years.  This is the war of the Establishment or Country Club GOP versus the grassroots, which is now the Tea Party.

The GOP establishment has always been disdainful of the grassroots.  The GOP establishment comes in every two years, talking about how conservative they are, expecting the grassroots to do the heavy lifting in the campaign, and as soon as the election is over, they ignore the conservatives and go about doing what they really want to do, which is to act like Democrats.

The Establishment GOP is very similar to liberals.  They do not like competition.  Tea Party candidates defeated a number of establishment candidates for congress in 2010 and we are already seeing the payback as in some GOP states: freshman Tea Party Congressmen are being redistricted out of their seats.  In Texas, home of Rick Perry, this tactic has been used against a number of Tea Party Freshmen.

Federalists, Whigs and Progressives

by D.L. Adams

Federalists, Whigs and Progressives

As our imperious head of state takes his most recent ill-timed vacation and the stock market falls, the ranks of unemployed Americans grows, and crises and commotions remain unresolved the dustbin of history is being prepared.

Anger at failed leftist policies and leadership from the American black left in the guise of Representative Maxine Waters of the Black Congressional Caucus and the growing American black right as represented by Congressman Allen West of Florida appear to show that a flash point has been reached.

The founders used the term “experiment in self-government” to describe the new nation they had created because they had no expectation that it would be permanent, only a hope that it would be. The founders understood that nothing is stable across the ages but for change – therefore, they made our system of government flexible.

How `bout that Rick Perry!

Aug. 14, 2011

Is anyone out there convinced that Rick Perry had a choice about where and when to announce his candidacy for the 2012 Republican Presidential Primary? Are we that naïve to believe that it was “unfortunate timing” that led Rick Perry into a position that conflicted with the results of the Iowa Straw Poll? If you paid attention to the Sunday morning political parade you may have noticed the show that was being produced for your consumption.

Every other word out of the mouths of the legacy press pundits was “RickPerry.” They were falling all over each other to confer Republican front-runner status on the guy who hasn't even warmed up a seat on the campaign bus yet. But they were not counting on the sterling performance of Michelle Bachmann in their grudging coverage of the Iowa events.

It is apparent to me that Governor Perry has been anointed by the editorial board of the New York Times as the Republican favorite from the Progressive Wing. He inherits this position from John McCain, recently defeated by Barack Obama, another favorite of that same editorial board. How else do you explain the elaborate display of Perry regalia broadcast on the Sunday morning shows, the erudition flowing from the non-Texans populating the panels, the litany of Perry accomplishments at their very fingertips, without a fully developed script from the New York Press elite? They had their assignments well in advance of Perry's “untimely” announcement on Saturday.

But, much to their dismay, the dialogue unfailingly turned to the presidential appearance of Michelle Bachmann in Iowa. As soon as they realized that they were unwittingly examining the race from the Bachmann perspective, someone would say, “... and how `bout that Rick Perry.” Then the conversation would ensue about how much closer to “middleclass American values” Perry was - compared to Bachmann!!

The ABC program, Meet the Press, made the tactical choice to include The Republican Governor of Iowa, Terry Branstad on their panel. He looked like a distinguished, mild-mannered gentleman, but then proceeded to loudly dominate the discussion about the conservative theme that was closer to “mainstream” than the disastrous policies of Barack Obama. At every utterance he was singing Michelle Bachmann's theme song. But then you would hear, “... and how `bout that Rick Perry?”

So the order of the day from the New York-dominated press seems to push Rick Perry as the “Republican” choice. They really like Rick Perry. They have even fitted him for a tricorne hat in place of his usual Stetson. The press has dubbed him a “tea party favorite” while quoting his “unwaveringly conservative” views. They are quick to point out that Texas, under Governor Perry, has produced one-third of the new jobs created in the nation for the past three years. Imagine that!

Imagine this. Imagine that you had discretion about where to spend stimulus money to affect the number of jobs in one state or another. Imagine that you had a huge project like the North American Free-Trade Agreement and its Trans-Texas Corridor to sweeten the jobs picture. How much credit could you muster for the governor of that state when you want to make him look good in the New York press? Would it matter much that your incumbent president is losing popularity with the voters if you have another in the wings dressed up like a true cowboy/tea party hero?

Of course, you would have to minimize the damage that Perry has already done in the immigration debate. His opposition of the border barricade and his refusal to accept state responsibility in enforcement of existing immigration laws does not sit well with Texas' real tea parties. Neither do they cotton to his promotion of the globalist agenda on the North American Free Trade Agreement and his imperious actions to get the Trans-Texas Corridor built with foreign money (and under foreign ownership).

While he pandered to the “bring home the bacon” crowd, real conservatives see his connection to the big money in New York. There hasn't been this much “grooming” since Woodrow Wilson was packaged like a Constitutional patriot. Republicans seem content to allow these elite voices to pick their candidate, but Tea Party activists will be asking the hard questions during this campaign, and the RINOs should step back.

The Worst Thing that Anybody Can Do to You is Take Away Your Freedom

Brian Walsh   August 8, 2011

Excessive criminal laws trap small business owner.

How much danger does the federal government’s unprincipled, out-of-control body of criminal law pose to, say, the average American small-business person?  Well, suppose you were a small-business owner, and for twelve years both U.S. Customs and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had been inspecting the shipments of seafood you were importing to sell to U.S. restaurant distributors.  Suppose that for the entirety of those twelve years you had always packaged your shipments using plastic bags rather than cardboard boxes.  Suppose that there is no U.S. law requiring you to use anything other than plastic.

Glossary of Terms

acr_buttonBuilt Environment: “The built environment encompasses all of the buildings, spaces, and products created or modified by people.” 1

Carrying Capacity: The optimum demand for system sustainability or the maximum demand a system can support without serious compromise or collapse.2

  • Translation: Local government will determine how many human resources a specific area will contain. A higher density of people (per square foot) means that local government is efficiently fulfilling the goal of the master plan.

Clustering: A Development design technique that concentrates buildings on a part of the site to allow the remaining land to be used for agriculture, recreation, common open space, and preservation of environmentally sensitive features.2

Comprehensive Plan: The Plan provides a legally recognized framework for making decisions about land use and other planning and policy decisions. However, it is fundamentally a policy document. "The policies are required by the GMA (Growth Management Act) to be implemented through the use of such regulatory tools as zoning and subdivision ordinances, as well as other innovative techniques. These regulations must be developed and maintained in accordance with the goals and policies of this comprehensive plan."3

"The comprehensive plan, once viewed primarily as an advisory document to the local governmental body, is in many states becoming a legal, binding document as well as a prescription for future development patterns."4

Concurrency: A technique in which the facilities and services necessary to meet the demands of new development are put in place concurrently with the development. Use of this technique is meant to ensure development will locate where services are available within the urban service area. The State of Florida requires that all 457 local governments implement concurrency for water and sewer systems, stormwater management, solid waste collection and disposal, parks and recreation, and transportation.5
