Pearson Forced to Reprint Islam-Biased Textbook in Florida

Dr. William Saxton, Chairman of Citizens for National Security told The Report Card that as result of CFNS efforts – and for the first time as far as anyone related to these K-12 textbook issues knows – a major publisher, Pearson Prentice Hall, had to correct the content of an already printed flawed textbook that it intended to sell to a huge school district in Florida, and reprint it, before it could be purchased. Dr. Saxton earned his doctorate in Applied Physics from Harvard and spent much of his career in the United States Intelligence community. He founded CFNS as a result of concerns that Islamic terror organizations Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood were spreading misinformation and indoctrinating students in American schools.

The new 2013 high-school history book, “World History,” was slated for delivery to Palm Beach County (PBC) students for use at the beginning of the current school year. CFNS documented Islam bias and misinformation in a report co-authored by Dr. Saxton and Report Card Publisher William Korach. That 92-page report, published February 2012 documented Islam-biased errors and misinformation in 25 textbooks in Florida. CFNS participated in a marathon meeting with PBC curriculum specialists and a Pearson representative to delineate their concerns and recommend corrections. Following that, Dr. Saxton testified about the book’s bias before the PBC School Board. After further review, the Board concurred with the CFNS position, and determined that much of the textbook’s contentious language be revised, consistent with CFNS’s recommendations, as a condition for purchase.

Because the textbook had to be reprinted, students didn’t have a world history text until well into last fall. But now, at least, the textbook will be accurate.

I am sick of apologizing for Israel when it is Israel that really deserves an apology.

I am sick of apologizing for Israel’s right to defend itself. I am sick of the word “ceasefire” when all that really means is “time for Hamas to build more rockets” while we stand by helplessly. I am sick of the UN calling this an Israeli-Palestinian War when all along it’s clearly been a prolonged terrorist attack that the IDF is courageously trying to stop. I’m sick of people criticizing Israel for killing innocent people when they have done more than any country to warn Gazans and have even brought the gunmen into their own hospitals. I’m sick of apologizing for being a Jew. For being part of a nation whose kindness and compassion shine through even on the battlefield.

Somehow the world is turning everything around. Turning the terrorists into victims. Turning the attacked into the aggressor. This is the anti-Semitism of today. A hatred and disgust with Israel no matter what we do. And now the FAA has put a ban on US flights to Israel, isolating us from each other as the rockets continue to fall.

Now I ask you. Who should be apologizing?

Israel Invades Gaza

Israel has taken the next step in its response to unprovoked Hamas rocket attacks from Gaza. Fox News reports, "The Israeli military reportedly sent thousands of troops into the Gaza Strip Thursday as part of a large-scale ground operation aimed at destroying underground tunnels and other 'terror infrastructure' used by Hamas to target the Jewish State." This follows 10 days of aerial bombings against Hamas targets and Hamas' rejection of an Egyptian-brokered cease-fire. Israel had little choice but to respond with overwhelming force, as Hamas has proven incapable of anything but violence. Despite Israel's above-and-beyond efforts to avoid civilian casualties, Hamas deliberately puts civilians in harm's way to increase those casualties. Furthermore, The Wall Street Journal adds, "Hamas hides its immense arsenal of ever-longer range rockets in hospitals, mosques and, as we learned Thursday, even U.N. administered schools." Western Left media outlets routinely fall for Hamas' charade, offering misplaced sympathy while condemning Israel. But Israel should stay the course and neutralize the threat.

“There are two clocks ticking, one in Washington . . . and one in Israel . . . neither of them in sync.”

On the face of it, these words appear as if they were lifted from any report over the past year characterizing the discord over American and Israeli efforts to halt Iran’s nuclear program. But in fact they were spoken forty-five years ago by Israeli foreign minister Abba Eban on the eve of the Six Day War.

Eban had just returned to Jerusalem from Washington, where he was anxiously pressing the Lyndon Johnson administration to provide U.S. guarantees for Israel’s security in the event that Egypt attacked. Previously confident that America would have Israel’s back in the event of renewed warfare, Eban was now despondent at the likelihood that Israel would be forced to face the combined Arab armies alone, again.

If you want to understand the real reason why the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has been unsolvable for decades, one fact suffices: Palestinian leaders and activists would rather deprive their entire population of fresh water than allow an Israeli company to land a contract.

And if that assertion seems far-fetched, just consider what befell UNICEF last week when it sought to move forward with plans to build a desalination plant in Gaza.

According to both the UN and the Palestinians themselves, Gaza has a desperate shortage of pure drinking water. An official report issued by the Palestinian Water Authority last year stated that 90 percent of Gaza’s water supply is polluted, posing a serious threat to the health of Palestinian residents. A report issued the previous year by the UN Environment Program put the figure at 95 percent. Thus, if ever a place was in desperate need of a desalination plant, it’s Gaza. So UNICEF decided to step into the breach.

Wake Up, Panetta: UN, U.S. Have Opposing Interests

On March 7, 2012, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta stated in the U.S. Congress that the United Nations and NATO have supreme authority over the actions of the United States military. Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL) reacted to Secretary Panetta’s statement, saying:

I’m really baffled by the idea that somehow an international assembly provides a legal basis for the United States military to be deployed in combat. … The only legal authority that’s required to deploy the United States military is of the Congress and the president, and the law, and the Constitution.[i]

I paid with two death sentences for the privilege of becoming an American, I deeply love my adoptive country, and I highly esteem her leaders. But, with all due respect for Secretary Panetta, I have to say that his view reminds me of Ceausescu, who used to state over, and over, and over:

I wrote the Constitution! I will re-write it.

In 1988 when I became an American citizen, I ended the few words I said as a sign of my gratitude with the last paragraph of William Tyler Page’s creed:

It is my duty to my Country to love it; to support its Constitution; to obey its laws; to respect its flag, and to defend it against all enemies.

I also have good reason to believe that the UN is not interested in defending the United States. In my other life, when I was one of the top members of the Soviet bloc espionage community, one of our main assignments was to turn the UN against the United States. We in the Soviet bloc poured millions of dollars and thousands of people into that gigantic project. Virtually all UN employees and representatives from the communist countries — comprising a third of the world’s population — and from our Arab allies were secretly working for our espionage services. Our strategy was to convert the centuries-old European and Islamic animosity toward the Jews into a rabid and violent hatred for the United States by portraying it as a country run by a rapacious “Council of the Elders of Zion” (the Kremlin’s epithet for the U.S. Congress), which allegedly wanted to transform the rest of the world into a Jewish fiefdom.

His name is Parviz Lavi and According to campaign finance reports filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC), Rep. Steve Israel (D-N.Y.) has taken $6,500 from Parviz Lavi since 2006.
