SALON: This is how Ted Cruz wins

This is how Ted Cruz wins: Why the formerly unthinkable could really, actually happen

Establishment Republicans are beginning to reconcile themselves to supporting the lesser of two evils

FRIDAY, JAN 8, 2016

When Ted Cruz came to the Senate in 2013, after winning a squeaker of a Senate race the previous November, he didn’t waste any time in bringing himself to national attention. It wasn’t his style to use his freshman term to keep his head down and learn the ropes.  Just seven weeks after being sworn in, Cruz made a name for himself by accusing fellow Republican Chuck Hagel of taking money from communist North Korea during his confirmation hearings for Secretary of Defense. This accusation startled virtually everyone and earned Cruz a rebuke from committee chairman John McCain. Senator Barbara Boxer drew an apt analogy when she said she was reminded of “a different time and place, when you said, ‘I have here in my pocket a speech you made on such-and-such a date,’ and of course there was nothing in the pocket.” She was alluding, of course to the notorious Senator Joseph McCarthy.

Eagle Forum: New, Legally Binding Treaty Emerges on First Day of UN’s Lima Climate Conference

By Cathie Adams
President, Texas Eagle Forum
Eagle Forum UN Issues Chairman

December 2, 2014

At a United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change meeting in Lima, Peru, delegates from 196 parties are drafting a new legally binding treaty to replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol that is to be completed next year in Paris, France. At the outset of negotiations, environmentalists are calling for the new treaty to mandate a cap and tax on greenhouse gas emissions to go into effect by 2020, and to eliminate the use of fossil fuels altogether by 2050.

President Obama’s recent climate announcement with China, that the U.S. would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 28% below 2005 levels by 2025 is a boost to environmentalists at the Peru meeting that extends from December 1-12.

Stated by Martin Kaiser of Greenpeace, “In Lima, the countries must agree on the long-term goal of phasing out fossil fuel emissions to zero by mid-century while moving towards 100% renewable energy for all in a fair transition period. Subsidies for fossil fuel industries must be shifted towards renewable energy deployment and climate adaptation for vulnerable countries. In countries like the US, China, and the EU, the phase-out of coal must be accelerated.”

Enrique Maurtua Konstantinidis, international policy adviser for Climate Action Network Latin America added, “We must leave fossil fuels in the ground and not repeat the steps of the developed countries that brought us to this point.”

The UNFCCC thesis is that rich nations are responsible for climate change because they burn fossil fuels to produce energy, even though there is no conclusive science to substantiate the claims. Furthermore, the poor nations want the rich nations fork over a minimum of $100 million annually for the UN’s Green Climate Fund that is to afford renewable energy for the poor.

On the first day of the conference, Climate Action Network, a conglomerate of 900 radical green groups from about 100 nations, mocked Australia, Belgium, Ireland and Austria because they have yet to donate to a new Green Climate Fund. With a new legally binding treaty, they hope to make nations pay penalties for using fossil fuels. The climate will continue to change, even if nations are energy poor.

Remember it was President Bill Clinton’s VP Al Gore who flew to Kyoto, Japan in 1997 to revive talks for the same scheme to cap and tax greenhouse gas emissions. That treaty was never ratified by the U.S. Senate because it would have killed American jobs and devastated our economy. Even so, Americans should expect Obama to sign the new legally binding treaty before he leaves office, which should make American voters cautious about electing another President Clinton in 2016.

Tea Party Patriots files ethics complaints in the Senate

Tea Party Patriots co-founder Jenny Beth Martin has filed formal ethics complaints against Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI).TPP_Capture

The complaint against Sen. Reid seeks an official investigation by the Senate Select Committee on Ethics, on whether the Majority Leader abused his power by trying to intimidate private citizens and reward Democratic donors. It reads, in part, that Reid “violated Senate rules by unlawfully and unethically targeting private citizens, Charles and David Koch, whose philosophical and political views are in opposition to Senator Reid’s philosophy…”  It goes on to say that Reid’s continuous attacks on the Koch brothers only seeks to reward Democratic mega-donor Tom Steyer.

The complaint against Sen. Whitehouse seeks an investigation into whether he violated Senate rules by unlawfully pressuring federal agencies to target and conservative and tea party groups based solely on different philosophical views. In particular, Whitehouse pressured the Internal Revenue Service to pursue prosecutorial action against conservative organizations involved in political activity. “Senator Whitehouse should not be using his position to intimidate, harm, and silence his political opponents,” reads the complaint.

reid2“Harry Reid is abusing his office in pursuit of naked political purposes and it is a gross misuse of his taxpayer-funded office,” said Martin in announcing the ethics complaint.

These latest actions from Tea Party Patriots seek only to reveal the gross corruption on Capitol Hill, and hold accountable those responsible for misusing their power. The IRS, at the urging of Sen. Whitehouse and under the watch of President Obama, systematically targeted conservative organizations for increased scrutiny. We’ll do everything we can to make sure that kind of political targeting never happens again. Intimidation from those in power is thuggish behavior. Whitehouse and Reid should be held accountable for their actions.

Syria AUMF: It’s Not a Step in the Right Direction

by Michael Boldin on September 5, 2013 | SOURCE

In response to heavy public opposition to a unilateral executive war against Syria (yes, limited strikes on another country are certainly a “war in the legal sense), the Obama administration has given the appearance of a tip of the hat to Constitutional procedure by “seeking approval” from Congress.

I know quite a few people who, while still rightly opposed to intervention in Syria from a moral standpoint, have referred to this as “at least going in the right direction.”

I don’t.

In fact, beyond a temporary delay before the imperial president’s next foreign crime, this changes nothing.  It’s a band-aid, at best.

Here’s three reasons why.

1.  Dick, is that you?

The rhetoric coming from the “peace candidate” would have fit quite nicely anywhere in the Bush war years.  When Obama says he doesn’t actually need permission from Congress to wage war against another country, and that he “always reserves the right and responsibility to act,” it may-well have been the words of Dick Cheney.

NEW JERSEY TEA PARTY CAUCUS ENDORSES MAYOR STEVE LONEGAN

Posted by TPATH - September 4, 2013

From TPATH:tpath

Mayor Steve Lonegan has proven beyond any doubt that he will never compromise his conservative values.  TPATH asks that everyone who cares about the direction of this country and that of New Jersey, please take the time to vote next month.  We ask you to download the PDF from the NJ TEA Party Caucus and pass it along to as many people as possible.  If this is not the most important election in the past 30 years, it would be a hard case to point to one that was.

New Jersey may well decide control of the US Senate for the duration of Obomba's term.  Short of arresting him or impeaching him, preventing his further destruction of this country can only be accomplished by removing his ability to sign treaties with the United Nations and other enemies of America.

DOWNLOAD NEWS RELEASE IN .PDF

NOTE TO NEWS ORGANIZATIONS:
Once again we see the special rights provided for you in our Constitution being abused.  Several so called reporters have indicated they do not intend to post or print Press Releases which support Steve Lonegan.  One arrogant journalist claimed not to support the Tea Party movement and even requested to be removed from any future notifications.  This is the quintessence of arrogance and the disdain for ethics which has become the norm in your evanescent industry.
We have made it real easy to download this Press Release.  Its time you stopped ignoring half of your readers and maybe they will stop ignoring you.

A Final Observation:

Not just for that counterfeit journalist up in Hudson County who claimed not to support the Tea Party, but for all the others, secretly or overtly, harboring those same feelings, here, despite what you may think you know about the Tea Party, are a few of the things, by not supporting that movement, you also do not support:

  1. Abiding by the United States Constitution.  All of it.  Not just the convenient parts.
  2. Politicians who serve the people and not their personal bank accounts.
  3. Preventing the Federal Reserve from printing the US Dollar into oblivion.
  4. Sending tax payer dollars to Islamic terrorists such as The Muslim Brotherhood.
  5. Halting this executive branch, or any executive branch from writing laws via the Executive Order.
  6. Stopping the use our Military in support of Al Qaeda and other murderers of the American people.
  7. Ceasing the uncontrolled spending which has the debt to over $17 trillion, which our children must repay.
  8. Ending the government's use of the NSA data base to intimidate and extort politicians, Federal judges, Supreme Court justices, news organizations and, oh yes, journalists.
  9. Slowing down the dependency rate of those enslaved by government handouts.
  10. Improving America's ability to become energy independent and thereby stop sending our money to terrorist countries and organizations that want us dead.

Since the bulk of the mainstream media do not support the above, the question has to be, "What the heck do you support?”

Disclaimer:
TPATH has posted the Press Release herewith in service to New Jersey voters.  Be advised that the comments included herewith are solely those of TPATH and may or may not be condoned by the NJ TEA Party Coalition.

The Martin 9/12 Committee urges all of our members who know voters in New Jersey to call those voters about Steve Lonegan. There is no better use for your contributions this year than the Lonegan Campaign. His opponent, Cory Booker, is collecting Progressive money from Hollywood to Moscow. There is a good chance that New Jersey voters are fed up with the leftist promises and the lack of character in the Democrat Party and that could translate into a Lonegan win. Remember – this is a “special election” (on a Wednesday) and the only way for the opposition to get a good turnout is to pay for it.

MARCO RUBIO: THE NEWEST NEOCON #tcot

Pat Buchanan challenges senator's interventionist foreign policy

by PATRICK J. BUCHANANBUCHANAN(COLOR)2

Among the GOP victories in 2010, none was sweeter than that of Marco Rubio.

The charismatic young Cuban-American challenged Gov. Charlie Crist in a Senate primary, ran him out of the party and swept to victory by 19 points in a three-way race.

Among those mentioned as running mates for Mitt Romney, it is Rubio who generates the most excitement. That he is young, Hispanic and conservative, and his place on the ticket might secure Florida, are the cards he brings to the table.

So it was a surprise this week to see Rubio being chaperoned over to the Brookings Institution by Sen. Joe Lieberman to take final vows as the newest neoconservative.

John Quincy Adams’ declaration that America goes not “abroad in search of monsters to destroy,” says Rubio, is an idea that he rejects.

A wiser guide, said the senator, is Bob Kagan, Barack Obama’s favorite neocon, who calls it a myth that America is in decline and who urges a more robust and interventionist foreign policy.

Rubio says that on arrival in the Senate, he was astonished to find conservative colleagues advocating “withdrawal from Afghanistan and staying out of Libya.”

There Is a Real Chance to Stop Funding for “Sustainable Communities.”

Action Alert:

(This in from Virginia property rights activist Cathy Turner)

The House of Representatives have cut funding from Obama’s Partnership for Sustainable Communities program. The program has been targeted for elimination from the House FY 2012 spending bill.

Defunding Sustainable Development has also come through a Department of Transportation bill, a draft of which completely eliminates funding for what are called TIGER grants, which provides funding for the largest grants through the Partnership for Sustainable Communities program. This is great news for those of us opposed to Sustainable Development. It means less money and fewer weapons coming out of Washington, DC to enforce this assault on property rights and America’s way of life. Now the spending bill is moving to the Senate – the danger zone.

MANDATORY E-VERIFY STATES

MISSISSIPPI ALABAMA GEORGIA

By George Fuller
Floridians for Immigration Enforcement (FLIMEN)

Florida is a peninsula surrounded by water on the East, South, and West and on the North by states with mandatory e-verify laws. It is expected as illegal aliens self-deport from the states banning modern day slavery they will migrate to Florida. Corrupt illegal employers like Alico, Inc, run by Senate Budget Chair JD Alexander, chosen by U.S. Senate hopeful Mike Haridopolos, will gladly welcome more illegal aliens to the nearly 1 million in the state currently. Illegal employers use to own them, with all the upkeep of housing and feeding, and now they only have to rent them.FlaFlag

Loathe to shed the slave employment mentality, the companies employing illegal aliens by their very actions spit and walk on the legal workers of Florida. Floridians are left to educate, medicate and incarcerate the illegal aliens who create the chaos and anarchy in the state currently costing Floridian taxpayers nearly $5.5 Billion annually and over $25 Billion in the last decade.

Floridians need to brace themselves for evermore illegal alien costs as Florida remains the job magnet in the south-east part of the United States. The figure of 1 million unemployed legal workers and over 600,000 employed illegal aliens will surely rise in both numbers.

Who is to blame? Look no further than the Florida State Legislature. Every state immigration law proposed has been blocked from passage for years with the Republicans in charge. Understand Democrats would do no better if in charge.

Begin with Senate President Mike Haridopolos. He promised there would be legislation dealing with mandatory e-verify and he delivered twice.

The Shark Tank

Do Senator Rubio and the Political Class Grasp the Depths of Obama’s Duplicity?

by Javier Manjarres

March 27, 2011

Florida Senator Marco Rubio held a meet-n-greet with constituents along with a brief Q&A session for the assembled media at his Miami Senate office last Friday. Senator Rubio indicated that he was “losing patience”with the Obama Administration because it has not submitted the Colombian & Panama free trade agreement to Congress, finding it “inexplicable why those agreements have not been submitted for approval by the U.S. Congress.”

I had the opportunity to ask Senator Rubio’s opinion as to what similarities exist between the policies of President Obama and those of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.  Rubio was somewhat taken aback by the question, questioning whether parallels between the two leaders even existed.  His answer to the question is on the video below, but it leads to a larger question- does Rubio, or the political class for that matter, truly grasp the extent of Obama’s lawlessness and the expansion of his executive power- both of which are in direct contradiction to the national interest and only intended to further his political aims?

Jim DeMint machine could rival NRSC

By: Manu Raju and John Bresnahan
March 10, 2011 04:32 AM EST

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) is already building an aggressive campaign machine for the 2012 Senate elections, promising to push his party further to the right, despite angering many in the GOP establishment with his political activities last year.

DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund wants to rake in a staggering $15 million, which is nearly $6 million more than in 2010 when his political action committee raised more money than any other politician’s PAC.

DeMint is now renting a Capitol Hill townhouse for his political operation — just a few blocks from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the official campaign arm for Senate Republicans. And unlike the NRSC, which plans to stay out of contested primaries, DeMint is prepared to be an active force, jumping into intraparty battles by pushing conservative candidates against moderate Republicans.

The buildup is the latest sign that DeMint has become the pre-eminent conservative political activist in the Senate, and he plans to push candidates whose ideological views align with his and the tea party movement’s — even if it sets up a major clash with the NRSC, which always looks for the most electable prospect.

EPA Moving Unilaterally To Limit Greenhouse Gases

by THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

December 24, 2010

Stymied in Congress, the Obama administration is moving unilaterally to clamp down on power plant and oil refinery greenhouse emissions, announcing plans for developing new standards over the next year.

In a statement posted on the agency's website late Thursday, Environmental Protection Agency administrator Lisa Jackson said the aim was to better cope with pollution contributing to climate change.

"We are following through on our commitment to proceed in a measured and careful way to reduce GHG pollution that threatens the health and welfare of Americans," Jackson said in a statement. She said emissions from power plants and oil refineries constitute about 40 percent of the greenhouse gas pollution in this country.

Senate moves on nuclear arms treaty

The Senate plunged into debate on a new U.S.-Russia arms control treaty Wednesday after Democrats secured the backing of a significant number of Republicans in a crucial test vote of President Barack Obama’s top foreign policy priority.

The White House and senior Democrats have expressed confidence that they had the two-thirds majority needed for ratification in the Senate. In a fresh sign of momentum, Democrats easily prevailed, 66-32, to move forward on the pact, winning the support of nine Republicans. Among the GOP senators was Sen. John McCain of Arizona, Obama’s 2008 presidential rival and a top lawmaker on national security issues.
