CISPA-like Cyber Security Bill Coming to a Vote in U.S. Senate Soon – #tcot

by Austin Krause on MAY 26, 2012 in NEWS

You might have noticed the internet blackout day back on January 18 when over 7,000 sites went dark in protest of the proposed SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act). Recently another form of legislation has emerged, that while similarly controversial, is different than SOPA in several ways. This one is called CISPA.

If you haven’t heard of CISPA (Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act), it’s a bill that is designed to allow private companies to lawfully share data with the U.S. governments much easier. The bill passed congress but was threatened with a veto from the Obama administration and didn’t garnish much support in the Senate. As a result, the senate has created bill s.2105 titled the Cyber Security Act (CSA).

What does this mean? The terms in the merged bill are too ambiguous to be absolutely sure how it will be interpreted. But many, like Sen. Ron Wyden believe that “these bills will encourage the development of a cyber security industry that profits from fear and whose currency is Americans private data.” According to the ACLU (who wrote an easy-to-understand outline concerning how the bill affects privacy), says this bill “creates an exception to every privacy law on the books so that companies that hold our sensitive personal information can share it with the government, including possibly the military.”

As a reaction to the new bill several consumer awareness groups as well as a good portion of the Reddit and Facebook community have joined together in creating a website calledPrivacy is Awesome. This site features a step-by-step guide on how to proactively oppose the CSA bill by contacting state senators currently listed as being in favor of it. According to Privacy is Awesome, the vote is expected to go through the senate sometime in early June.

Prayer for Peace, Memorial Day, 2012

PRAYER FOR PEACE, MEMORIAL DAY, 2012
- - - - - - -
BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
A PROCLAMATION

Our Nation endures and thrives because of the devotion of our men and women in uniform, who, from generation to generation, carry a burden heavier than any we may ever know. On Memorial Day, we honor those who have borne conflict's greatest cost, mourn where the wounds of war are fresh, and pray for a just, lasting peace.

The American fabric is stitched with the stories of sons and daughters who gave their lives in service to the country they loved. They were patriots who overthrew an empire and sparked revolution. They were courageous men and women who strained to hold a young Union together. They were ordinary citizens who rolled back the creeping tide of tyranny, who stood post through a long twilight struggle, who saw terror and extremism threaten our world's security and said, "I'll go." And though their stories are unique to the challenges they faced, our fallen service members are forever bound by a legacy of valor older than the Republic itself. Now they lay at rest in quiet corners of our country and the world, but they live on in the families who loved them and in the soul of a Nation that is safer for their service.

Today, we join together in prayer for the fallen. We remember all who have borne the battle, whose devotion to duty has sustained our country and kept safe our heritage as a free people in a free society. Though our hearts ache in their absence, we find comfort in knowing that their legacy lives on in all of us -- in the security that lets us live in peace, the prosperity that allows us to pursue our dreams, and the love that still beats in those who knew them. May God bless the souls of the venerable warriors we have lost, and may He watch over the men and women who serve us now. Today, tomorrow, and in perpetuity, let us give thanks to them by remaining true to the values and virtues for which they fight.

Catholics See a Rallying Cry for 'Religious Freedom' in For Greater Glory Film

By Lauren Markoe

The film shows a burning crucifix, gun-toting priests and the torture of a young boy. And the Roman Catholic hierarchy is loving it.

The film, "For Greater Glory," hits theaters on June 1 and tells a little known chapter of Mexican history -- the Cristero War of 1926 to 1929, which pitted an army of devout Catholic rebels (led in the movie by Andy Garcia) against the government of Mexican President Plutarco Calles (played by Ruben Blades).
For Catholics enraged by the Obama administration's proposed contraception mandate, the film about the Mexican church's fight in 1920s is a heartening and timely cinematic boost in the American church's battle to preserve "religious freedom" in 2012.

MEET SOROS-FUNDED DOMESTIC TERRORIST BRETT KIMBERLIN WHOSE ‘JOB’ IS TERRORIZING BLOGGERS INTO SILENCE

Posted on May 25, 2012 by Tiffany Gabbay Tiffany Gabbay

  • Drug dealer, alleged child molester, and convicted perjurer, forger and Indiana Speedway Bomber (who is also believed to have played a role in the assassination of a grandmother), Brett Kimberlin spent 17 years in prison before his ultimate re-absorption into American society
  • He started a non-profit dubbed “Justice Through Music (JTM)” that has, since at least 2005, been funded by George Soros’ Tides Foundation and Barbara Streisand among other leftists
  • Along with his associate, Kimberlin also started an organization called “Velvet Revolution” that supports the Occupy movement
  • JTM’s goal is to use music to foster “social justice” and fight Republican “voter fraud” (like the kind George Bush allegedly used to “steal” the Florida election)
  • Any blogger — conservative and liberal alike — who has written the truth about Kimberlin has come under vicious attack by either Kimberlin or his minions, suffering death threats (veiled and unveiled), multiple lawsuits, loss of jobs and worse
  • He has filed over 100 frivolous lawsuits against anything that isn’t nailed down and somehow is being allowed to continue unchecked
  • This story has never been reported on in the mainstream media

Be prepared to enter an alternate universe bizarre beyond any stretch of what you thought even possible.  And then keep reading, because this may be one of the most important exposes published on The Blaze to date. It will explain in frightening detail what it means to speak the truth at the expense of losing all you hold dear. And will reveal how easy it has been for one convicted domestic terrorist — backed by George Soros and Barbara Streisand alike — to use the U.S. legal system, as well as less desirable channels, to silence those who have dared tell the story of one Brett Kimberlin, a.k.a. the “Speedway Bomber.”

American as Apple Pie? - #tcot

Rep. Allen West was vilified for mentioning the cozy relationship our national leaders have with people who might be considered "Communists" or sympathizers. This little video production leaves no doubt that those same greedy bastards are following the money and not the interests of the American people.

Schlafly: Defeat Law of the Sea Treaty–Again–#tcot

By Phyllis Schlafly May 16, 2012

The stunning repudiation of Sen. Richard Lugar's, R-Ind., bid for a seventh term has sent shock waves through Washington's internationalist lobby. A former Rhodes Scholar, Lugar has spent his career promoting a globalist agenda, since he succeeded the late Jesse Helms as the top Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

One day after Indiana Republicans handed Lugar his walking papers, an outfit called the Atlantic Council held a forum to promote the discredited Law of the Sea Treaty. As former Republican U.S. Sens. Chuck Hagel and John Warner beamed their approval, Obama's Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta declared that "the time has come" for the Senate to ratify the treaty.

Hagel, Warner and Lugar share an internationalist mindset. All three senators supported "comprehensive immigration reform" (aka amnesty) bills that failed to pass Congress in 2006 and 2007. In support of LOST, they are joined by former Republican Sen. Trent Lott, now a high-priced lobbyist who no longer answers to his former Mississippi constituents.

Williams: Should We Obey All Laws? - #tcot

By Walter E. Williams May 16, 2012

Let's think about whether all acts of Congress deserve our respect and obedience. Suppose Congress enacted a law -- and the Supreme Court ruled it constitutional -- requiring American families to attend church services at least three times a month. Should we obey such a law? Suppose Congress, acting under the Constitution's commerce clause, enacted a law requiring motorists to get eight hours of sleep before driving on interstate highways. Its justification might be that drowsy motorists risk highway accidents and accidents affect interstate commerce. Suppose you were a jury member during the 1850s and a free person were on trial for assisting a runaway slave, in clear violation of the Fugitive Slave Act. Would you vote to convict and punish?

Did three of Florida's Supreme Court Justices commit a crime?

By: Jack Furnari   Source: BIZPAC Review   Date: May 15, 2012

For weeks, Florida's liberal media has been circling the wagons around Florida Supreme Court Justices Fred Lewis, Peggy Quince and Barbara Pariente in a blatantly partisan attempt to explain away the jurists’ apparent violation of Florida election law.

The three justices are due to face a merit retention vote on the November ballot. A little less than two hours before the deadline, on the last day of filing, the justices were notified that they had failed to fill out or file their qualifying oath and financial disclosure forms. In the ensuing scramble, the justices put state employees to work to help get the paperwork done on time.

Morning Bell: Don’t Fear the Free Market #tcot

Mike Brownfield  May 15, 2012 at 8:55 am

The lingering headline on the front pages this week is that JP Morgan Chase suffered a massive loss on a hedging strategy, costing them $2 billion. That’s no small mistake, and it’s an example of how bad decisions in the free market can cost big money. But just because mistakes have consequences doesn’t mean that the mighty hand of government needs to step in to save us from ourselves. However, that’s what some on the left are now calling for.

The news of this blunder hit last week when JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon revealed that the bank took a $2 billion loss over the past six weeks in a strategy intended to hedge against risks to the bank’s assets that could come from market volatility caused by the Euro crisis. On Sunday’s Meet the Press, Dimon admitted, “In hindsight, we took far too much risk. The strategy we had was badly vetted. It was badly monitored. It should never have happened.”

The company is certainly paying the price in losses, as are those responsible for the bad decision making. The Los Angeles Times reports that the bank’s stock fell 12% since it disclosed the loss last week, the executive who oversaw the department responsible for the loss retired on Monday, and JP Morgan’s reputation as an extremely well managed bank has been damaged.

But does the flawed strategy and the resulting loss mean that Washington should step in with more regulation of Wall Street?

The Revolution Was: 1938 - #tcot

by GARET GARRETT on MAY 14, 2012

ed.: An amazingly insightful article reprinted by  Conservative Action Alerts. Apparently journalists, at that time, could be patriots as well.

Garet Garrett (1878-1954) is a voice largely forgotten or altogether unknown today. Born in Illinois, by the age of twenty-five he was a staff writer for the New York Sun. Thirteen years later he was an executive editor at the New York Tribune, after having been a financial writer for the New York Times. After the advent of the New Deal, Garrett, then writing for The Saturday Evening Post, was a strong voice for limited government and an staunch opponent to Roosevelt’s agenda. Garrett authored a total of sixteen books including The Revolution Was, A Bubble That Broke The World, A Time Is Born, and The American Story.

There are those who still think they are holding the pass against a revolution that may be coming up the road. But they are gazing in the wrong direction. The revolution is behind them. It went by in the Night of Depression, singing songs to freedom.

There are those who have never ceased to say very earnestly, “Something is going to happen to the American form of government if we don’t watch out.”

These were the innocent disarmers. Their trust was in words. They had forgotten their Aristotle. More than 2,000 years ago he wrote of what can happen within the form, when “one thing takes the place of another, so that the ancient laws will remain, while the power will be in the hands of those who have brought about revolution in the state.”

Worse outwitted were those who kept trying to make sense of the New Deal from the point of view of all that was implicit in the American scheme, charging it therefore with contradiction, fallacy, economic ignorance, and general incompetence to govern.

But it could not be so embarrassed and all that line was wasted, because, in the first place, it never intended to make that kind of sense, and secondly, it took off from nothing that was implicit in the American scheme.

It took off from a revolutionary base. The design was European. Regarded from the point of view of revolutionary technic it made perfect sense. Its meaning was revolutionary and it had no other. For what it meant to do it was from the beginning consistent in principle, resourceful, intelligent, masterly in workmanship, and it made not one mistake.

The test came in the first one hundred days.

Newsweek: Obama ‘first gay president’

By Sam Baker - 05/13/12 12:18 PM ET

The cover of Newsweek magazine this week proclaims President Obama "the first gay president."

The cover pictures Obama with a rainbow-colored halo over his head. The New Yorker's cover for this week, likewise, is an image of the White House, with the iconic columns on its South portico arranged in the colors of the rainbow — a prominent symbol for gay rights.

The Newsweek cover goes a step further by adding the religious symbol of a halo above Obama's head.

Obama said this week that he is personally comfortable with same-sex marriage — the first time a sitting president has taken that position.
Newsweek's "first gay president" cover story is written by Andrew Sullivan, a blogger at Newsweek and the Daily Beast, who is openly gay.

The moniker evokes Toni Morrison's description of former President Bill Clinton as "the first black president."

The UN Plan For Running The World: Global Carbon Taxes, Global Safety Nets And A One World Green Economy

Did you know that the UN has a plan for running the world and it is right out in the open?  It is called "sustainable development", but it is far more comprehensive than it sounds.  The truth is that the UN plan for running the world would dramatically alter nearly all forms of human activity.  A 204 page report on "sustainable development" entitled "Working Towards a Balanced and Inclusive Green Economy, A United Nations System-Wide Perspective" has been published in advance of the upcoming Rio + 20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro.  You can read the full report right here.  It envisions a vast system of global carbon taxes, massive global safety nets and the implementation of a one world green economy.  Many of those that are pushing "sustainable development" on a global level believe that they are doing it for the good of the planet.  In fact, the 204 page report mentioned above even says that the transition "to a green economy requires a fundamental shift in the way we think and act" but that it will be worth it in the end.  What people need to understand is that throughout modern history tyranny has almost always been initially introduced by people that believed that they had "good intentions".  No matter how much friendly language the UN uses in their reports, the truth is that what they are promoting is an insidious agenda of absolute tyranny on a global scale.

The upcoming Rio + 20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro comes 20 years after the original 1992 UN Earth Summit that adopted "Agenda 21".  This new summit will be about renewing that commitment to "sustainable development" and moving that agenda forward.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett won the Democratic primary Tuesday in Wisconsin's historic recall election, leaving him with a short four weeks to make the closing argument that Republican Gov. Scott Walker should be booted from office after 16 contentious months on the job.

Walker easily defeated token opposition in the GOP primary Tuesday, and Barrett's win set up a June 5 rematch of the 2010 governor's race.

Is this the end of 'One Europe'? #tcot

by Patrick J. Buchanan

05/08/2012

How Europe's crisis resolves itself as yet remains unknown.

But with Sunday's returns from France and Greece, the mega-trends on the Old Continent are unmistakable. And for the European Union, they are ominous.

Nationalism -- be it economic nationalism or ethnic nationalism -- is ascendant. Transnationalism and multiculturalism are in headlong if not irreversible retreat. The European project is itself imperiled.

To be sure, no one should underestimate the commitment of Europe's elites to the vision of One Europe as challenger to the United States. In the capitals and corporate headquarters of the continent, these elites are, almost to a man and woman, devout Europeans.

All Fall Down–#tcot

May 6, 2012 - 10:18 am - by Victor Davis Hanson

The temple of postmodern liberalism was rocked these last few weeks, as a number of supporting columns and buttresses simply crashed, leaving the entire edifice wobbling.

Fake but Accurate Identities?
The trivial Elizabeth Warren “high cheekbones” fraud nonetheless offered a draw-back-the-curtain look into the gears and levers of our national race industry. The real story is not that the multimillionaire liberal (and one-percenter) Warren fabricated a Cherokee identity for over a decade (to the delight of her quota-thirsty universities), but rather the notion that if a pink blond at Harvard can get away with faking a career-enhancing minority identity, then anyone, anywhere, can—or rather often has.

Give Ward Churchill his due: he worked at it—unlike Warren, who junked her supposed great, great, great grandparent once she got tenure and being “Indian” was a drag at Cambridge cocktail parties. At least, like the proverbial chameleon on the leaf, Churchill tried to alter his appearance with buckskin, beads, and braids to find an edge his otherwise mediocre talents and white male status would not supply. In contrast, Warren simply by fiat claimed high cheekbones—no beads, no trips to the reservation, no buckskin, no Churchillian effort. Note the connivance of Harvard, which hand-in-glove used Warren’s pseudo-identity to pad its “diversity” goals, which enable a mostly white yuppie left-wing faculty to, well, not feel too guilty about remaining a mostly white yuppie left-wing faculty.

I, Liberal - - #tcot

I, Liberal

I’m sure that there could never be
A man as virtuous as me.
I’ve honed my precious self-esteem
In ways no common man could dream!
To feed my moral vanity,
I preen for all the world to see;
I thrust in everybody’s face
The noble causes I embrace.

And lest there be the slightest doubt
That I’m no bitter, clinging lout,
The bumper stickers on my Volt
Affirm that I’m no right-wing dolt.
As these credentials will attest,
I am the brightest and the best –
And true to my enlightened soul,
Utopia shall be my goal!

The planet should be mine to run;
I know what’s best for everyone.
My Nanny Squad will nag and scold,
Until the plebes do as they’re told.
My Social Justice Ministry
Will outlaw inequality –
With good intent unwavering,
I’ll redistribute everything!

I’ll be obscenely generous
With subsidy and stimulus;
To fund my drunken spending sprees,
The fat cats’ profits I will seize!
For those who fail, my heart will bleed,
But woe to those who dare succeed.
I vow to vanquish human greed –
To each according to his need!

There’ll be no want, there’ll be no war,
My Welfare Corps will feed the poor.
There’ll be no limit to my grace,
When I control the human race!
I’ll heal the Earth, I’ll low’r the Seas,
My Healthcare Force will smite disease –
And all will rightly worship me:
The Savior of Humanity!

EPA’s Plans for Implementing UN’s Agenda 21–#tcot

Written by  Larry Greenley NewAmericanlogo

One of the most successful grassroots campaigns during the past year has been the Stop Agenda 21 movement both at the local level and state level. However, we haven’t heard as much about Agenda 21 implementation at the national level.

Of course, there were President Bill Clinton's establishment of the President’s Council on Sustainable Development by executive order in 1993 and President Obama's “Federal Leadership in Environmental, Energy, and Economic Performance” executive order in 2009. And, many federal agencies have been incorporating sustainability into various aspects of their organizations. Still, virtually all Stop Agenda 21 grassroots activity has been focused on the local and state levels.

Real U-3 Unemployment Rate: 11.6%

Submitted by Tyler Durden on 05/04/2012

Propaganda unemployment rate: 8.1%; Real unemployment rate: 11.6%. Reason for difference:organic growth of labor force which grows alongside the broader population. Don't be confused by cheap explanations on TV why the labor force should be declining (especially with ZIRP meaning pre-retirement workers have to stay in the labor force ever longer to supplant their meager fixed income): the widely accepted definition of the labor pool, that used by the CBO and all other government forecasting agencies, assumes a 90,000 growth in the labor force every month as it has to keep in line with the growth of the US population! The implication is simple: using a real labor force participation rate long-term average of 65.8%, the real unemployment rate in April was 11.6%, based on the 5.4 million additional workers that should be counted as part of the U-3 which then means that the real number of unemployed is not 12.5 million but 17.9 million, which in turn implies a 11.6% unemployment rate in the US. This also means that the spread between the propaganda, and the real number is now 3.5%: the most it has been since the early 1980s.

Get dollar-pollution out of the race – #tcot

freedom21-logo-sm

By Henry Lamb

Super PACs, indeed, polluted the Republican primary elections, and it will get worse during the general election campaign.  The short-term cure for this situation is to require that any public announcement in support or opposition to a candidate be approved publicly by the candidate named, and the cost of the announcement be disclosed by the named candidate.  This will not stop the money flow, but it will slow it down.  And, it will identify the individuals and corporations who are spending the money.  The real solution is the plan originally provided by our Framers in the U.S. Constitution.

The Office of President of the United States should seek the man; the office should not be available for purchase, theft, fraud – or by popular election.  Our Framers saw the potential for corruption in the process of choosing a president.  The method they designed eliminates that corruption and should replace the current system.

Rumors Of Overseas Company Tabulating 2012 Election Results Addressed By Florida Division Of Elections #tcot

By Tom Tillison
Florida Political Press

There has been much consternation over rumors that the Spanish online voting company Scytl, which is said to have ties to George Soros, a.k.a. ‘Spooky Dude’, bought the largest vote processing corporation in the United States and will tabulate the results of the 2012 election.

The rumor goes as such;

SOE, the Tampa based corporation purchased by SCYTL, supplies the election software which records, counts, and reports the votes of Americans in 26 states–900 total jurisdictions–across the nation.

As the largest election results reporting company in the U.S., SOE provides reports right down to the precinct level. But before going anywhere else, those election returns are routed to individual, company servers where the people who run them “…get ‘first look’ at results and the ability to immediately and privately examine vote details throughout the USA.”

Therefore, even though votes will be cast in hometown, American precincts on Election Day, with the Barcelona-based SCYTL taking charge of the process, the votes will be routed and counted overseas.

A South Florida grassroots activist, Pamela Evans, made an inquiry with the Governor’s office, who sent the request on to the Florida Division of Elections, prompting a response from Eddie Phillips II, Executive Assistant, that squashes this rumor right in it’s track.
