EPW Republicans release in-depth environmental collusion report, “The Chain of Environmental Command: How a Club of Billionaires and Their Foundations Control the Environmental Movement and Obama’s EPA”

U.S Environment and Public Works Committee Republicans released a report today highlighting the collusion between environmental activists, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and billionaires using large sums of money to influence environmental public policy.
The report uncovers the sophisticated practice of how wealthy donors, referred to in the report as the "Billionaire's Club," funnel money to far-left environmental activists through public charities. It also shows that current leadership at the EPA is very much an active partner in the far-left environmental movement, and even sponsors their efforts through grants to environmental activists.
Key points from the report:
• The "Billionaire's Club," an exclusive group of wealthy individuals, directs the far-left environmental movement. The members of this elite liberal club funnel their fortunes through private foundations to execute their personal political agenda, which is centered around restricting the use of fossil fuels in the United States.
• Public charities attempt to provide the maximum amount of control to their donors through fiscal sponsorships, which are a legally suspect innovation unique to the left, whereby the charity essentially sells its nonprofit status to a group for a fee.
• Public charity activist groups discussed in this report propagate the false notion that they are independent, citizen-funded groups working altruistically. In reality, they work in tandem with wealthy donors to maximize the value of the donors' tax deductible donations and leverage their combined resources to influence elections and policy outcomes, with a focus on the EPA.
• Environmental Grantmakers Association (EGA) is a place where wealthy donors meet and coordinate the distribution of grants to advance the environmental movement. It is a secretive organization, refusing to disclose their membership list to Congress.
• The Obama Administration has installed an audacious green-revolving door among senior officials at EPA, which has become a valuable asset for the environmental movement and its wealthy donors.
• Former environmentalists working at EPA funnel government money through grants to their former employers and colleagues.
• Under President Obama, EPA has given more than $27 million in taxpayer-funded grants to major environmental groups. Notably, the Natural Resources Defense Council and Environmental Defense Fund - two key activists groups with significant ties to senior EPA officials - have collected more than $1 million in funding each.
• EPA also gives grants to lesser-known groups. For example, the Louisiana Bucket Brigade received hundreds of thousands of grants under former Administrator Lisa Jackson despite challenges by state regulators over the use of such grants.
• In New York and Colorado, a pseudo grassroots effort to attack hydraulic fracturing has germinated from massive amounts of funding by the NY-based Park Foundation, as well as CA-based Schmidt Family Foundation and Tides Foundation.
• Bold Nebraska is another example of faux grassroots where a purportedly local organization is, in fact, an arm of the Billionaire's Club. It is a shield for wealthy and distant non-Nebraskan interests who seek to advance a political agenda without drawing attention to the fact that they have little connection to the state.
• The circumstances surrounding the flow of money from 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) groups, and the likelihood of lax oversight, raises questions as to whether 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundations and charities are indirectly funding political activities.
• 501(c)(4) Green Tech Action Fund receives millions of dollars from green 501(c)(3) organizations, then distributes the funds to other 501(c)(4) groups that donate to political campaigns.
• The Billionaire's Club knowingly collaborates with questionable offshore funders to maximize support for the far-left environmental movement.
On February 13, the Stuart News published an editorial column excoriating our state Attorney General for taking action in a federal case (American Farm Bureau Federation v. EPA) involving federal regulation of waterways. If that were not enough, the editor couched their opposition in such colorful terms that their opinion piece took on the nature of a personal attack. Accusing Attorney General Pam Bondi of “supporting the polluters,” and invoking the image of some unsubstantiated photograph of a single diseased fish supposedly caught in “local waters,” the column slanders Ms. Bondi and distorts the actions of the Attorneys General who are battling against the federal juggernaut of overreach and usurpation of rights.
Where did this lie originate? Local environmental extremist lawyer Ginny Sherlock would have you believe that this case is merely one of concerned citizens against the big, bad industrialists who are intentionally causing damage to public resources without regard to state and federal protections of waterways. She is broadcasting to her email “network” (apparently including the editors of the Stuart News) her complaint against Bondi using similar inflammatory language and urging her compatriots to contact the state authorities against Bondi’s official duties, demanding that Bondi “stop using my money to fight for out-of-state polluters.”

Why is Attorney General Bondi spending my tax dollars to intervene in an appeal of a lower court's ruling supporting a regional plan to clean up Chesapeake Bay?
I object to Attorney General Bondi siding with polluters, especially when our own Indian River Lagoon is suffering increasing damage from fertilizer and agricultural runoff like that which plagues Chesapeake Bay.
Attorney General Bondi is fighting AGAINST, not for the citizens of Floria[sic] by siding with polluters. Florida citizens are not able to take advantage of programs that provide foreclosure relief or medical care because of incompetence and corruption in our own government here in Florida.
Attorney General Bondi, stop using my money to fight for out-of-state polluters. Pay attention to the very real problems Floridians face as a result of your failure to ensure that citizens of our state get the help they need from federal and state programs.

While it’s difficult to determine which is the chicken and which is the egg, this type of team bullying has been going on toward our public officials for decades, and they have so far been unchecked. The only voices that our Commissioners and other elected officials have heard for twenty-five years are those who have organized under the flag of George Soros, Al Gore, David Rockefeller, and Maurice Strong. So far, they have succeeded in getting our “representatives” to spend our money to get their way. Only now are Commissioners hearing from citizens who are shocked at the lies and subterfuge used by extremists to run roughshod over your property rights.
Such was the case recently (Feb. 04) when the American Citizens for Property Rights (http://www.ac4pr.org/) and friends appeared to petition the Palm Beach County Board of Commissioners to reconsider their support for the Seven50 Plan for Prosperity from the Southeast Florida Regional Partnership. There the Commissioners saw for the first time in their tenure that ordinary citizens (voters) were indeed concerned about property rights as much as they were concerned for the potential for environmental damage. The speakers, one after the other, demanded that the Commissioners examine the evidence presented by the regional “planners” before making a decision that impacts your property rights and the expenditure of public funds. Perhaps the Commissioners did not understand that this was actual “pushback” against the usual tirade of environmental extremism they have endured for decades. Such folly. It seems that the Board has now been populated by the very people who issued these tirades for many years.

The stunning repudiation of Sen. Richard Lugar's, R-Ind., bid for a seventh term has sent shock waves through Washington's internationalist lobby. A former Rhodes Scholar, Lugar has spent his career promoting a globalist agenda, since he succeeded the late Jesse Helms as the top Republican on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
One day after Indiana Republicans handed Lugar his walking papers, an outfit called the Atlantic Council held a forum to promote the discredited Law of the Sea Treaty. As former Republican U.S. Sens. Chuck Hagel and John Warner beamed their approval, Obama's Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta declared that "the time has come" for the Senate to ratify the treaty.
Hagel, Warner and Lugar share an internationalist mindset. All three senators supported "comprehensive immigration reform" (aka amnesty) bills that failed to pass Congress in 2006 and 2007. In support of LOST, they are joined by former Republican Sen. Trent Lott, now a high-priced lobbyist who no longer answers to his former Mississippi constituents.

The lingering headline on the front pages this week is that JP Morgan Chase suffered a massive loss on a hedging strategy, costing them $2 billion. That’s no small mistake, and it’s an example of how bad decisions in the free market can cost big money. But just because mistakes have consequences doesn’t mean that the mighty hand of government needs to step in to save us from ourselves. However, that’s what some on the left are now calling for.
The news of this blunder hit last week when JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon revealed that the bank took a $2 billion loss over the past six weeks in a strategy intended to hedge against risks to the bank’s assets that could come from market volatility caused by the Euro crisis. On Sunday’s Meet the Press, Dimon admitted, “In hindsight, we took far too much risk. The strategy we had was badly vetted. It was badly monitored. It should never have happened.”
The company is certainly paying the price in losses, as are those responsible for the bad decision making. The Los Angeles Times reports that the bank’s stock fell 12% since it disclosed the loss last week, the executive who oversaw the department responsible for the loss retired on Monday, and JP Morgan’s reputation as an extremely well managed bank has been damaged.
But does the flawed strategy and the resulting loss mean that Washington should step in with more regulation of Wall Street?

Comparing Obama to Hitler is something that the liberal/left used to blame on the Tea Party. However, posters and signs showing Obama with a Hitler moustache were inevitably traced to followers of Lyndon LaRouche. They sometimes tried to portray themselves as conservatives, but in reality LaRouche is a former Marxist who ran for president as a Democrat. They like to cause deliberate political confusion.
Now that an educated Catholic Bishop with knowledge of history and a commitment to religious freedom has made the comparison, however, the national media cannot decide on how to respond.
When I saw the headline, “Bishop Compares Obama Policies to Hitler, Stalin,” over an article on Newsmax.com, the conservative website, I thought at first it must be an error or exaggeration. Was a Catholic Bishop actually being this harsh? I have reported on the reaction of the Catholic Church to the Obama Administration’s birth control mandate affecting religious institutions. My local priest called it evil and demonic and has suggested the church will be persecuted and ministers jailed for resisting the federal onslaught. But comparing the President personally to Hitler and Stalin?
