The Shark Tank
Do Senator Rubio and the Political Class Grasp the Depths of Obama’s Duplicity?
by Javier Manjarres
March 27, 2011
Florida Senator Marco Rubio held a meet-n-greet with constituents along with a brief Q&A session for the assembled media at his Miami Senate office last Friday. Senator Rubio indicated that he was “losing patience”with the Obama Administration because it has not submitted the Colombian & Panama free trade agreement to Congress, finding it “inexplicable why those agreements have not been submitted for approval by the U.S. Congress.”
I had the opportunity to ask Senator Rubio’s opinion as to what similarities exist between the policies of President Obama and those of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. Rubio was somewhat taken aback by the question, questioning whether parallels between the two leaders even existed. His answer to the question is on the video below, but it leads to a larger question- does Rubio, or the political class for that matter, truly grasp the extent of Obama’s lawlessness and the expansion of his executive power- both of which are in direct contradiction to the national interest and only intended to further his political aims?

Unreported Soros Event Aims to Remake Entire Global Economy
Left-wing billionaire's own experts dominate quiet push for 'a grand bargain that rearranges the entire financial order.'
- By Dan Gainor
- Wednesday, March 23, 2011
Two years ago, George Soros said he wanted to reorganize the entire global economic system. In two short weeks, he is going to start - and no one seems to have noticed.
On April 8, a group he's funded with $50 million is holding a major economic conference and Soros's goal for such an event is to "establish new international rules" and "reform the currency system." It's all according to a plan laid out in a Nov. 4, 2009, Soros op-ed calling for "a grand bargain that rearranges the entire financial order."
The event is bringing together "more than 200 academic, business and government policy thought leaders' to repeat the famed 1944 Bretton Woods gathering that helped create the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Soros wants a new 'multilateral system," or an economic system where America isn't so dominant.
More than two-thirds of the slated speakers have direct ties to Soros. The billionaire who thinks "the main enemy of the open society, I believe, is no longer the communist but the capitalist threat" is taking no chances.
Thus far, this global gathering has generated less publicity than a spelling bee. And that's with at least four journalists on the speakers list, including a managing editor for the Financial Times and editors for both Reuters and The Times. Given Soros's warnings of what might happen without an agreement, this should be a big deal. But it's not.
Middle Class
MARCH 21, 2011
The left continues to prattle on and on about the “war on the middle class”, which is the label they attach nowadays to any serious discussion of government spending.
For the moment, let’s put aside the rather obvious point that the middle class will be the first to be wiped out if the grown-ups don’t avert the debt-induced economic collapse and currency debasement that looms. Instead, let’s visit a country where the pro-labor policies our American unionists demand have already been in place for 80 years.
This nation’s Federal Labor Law was enacted in 1932. It sets not only basic minimum wage, but a different minimum wage for each general category of employment, flexed upwards to account for education and regional cost of living disparities. Salaries must be increased annually at a minimum set by law. Take that, Scott Walker!
For every six days of work, employees get one paid day of rest. Overtime at double pay must be paid for exceeding any 8 hour shift, not just a weekly total. No one can work more than 9 hours of overtime in a week. Screw you, Chris Christie!
Every worker is guaranteed a minimum of 6 days of vacation when hired, and 2 days are added for each year worked up to five. Employees get 25% premium added to their pay while on vacation. 7 mandatory holidays, with triple time pays if worked. How do you like me now, Jerry Brown, you hippie traitor!
There is mandatory severance pay for both termination and resignation – three months plus additional 20 days for each year employed. And the fired employee is entitled to sue for reinstatement at the employer’s expense; the law presumes wrongful termination unless the employer can prove otherwise. Talk to the clenched fist, Rand Paul!
Employers must fund employees’ personal retirement accounts, as well as provide housing allowance, annual bonus, government health care contributions, and other benefits totaling 29% of base salary. Plus profit sharing at 10% of earnings must be paid to workers, with management excluded. Eat it, lousy Koch Brothers!
Labor unions must be recognized if just 20% of the workforce registers. Collective bargaining agreements are negotiated between the employer’s representative and the representative of the national union every two years. Holy Card Check, Batman, only 20%? Wait until the other occasional dishwashers hear about this…

Principles Matter
Talk is cheap.
Sadly, as our national debt continues to soar, talk is the only thing President Obama and his liberal cohorts in Congress can seemingly do.
Actions are always better than words.
That's why the American Conservative Union (ACU), our nation's oldest and largest grassroots conservative organization, honored me with their "Defender of Liberty" Award for earning a 100% ACU rating and ranking me as Florida's most conservative member of Congress!
As a Conservative, I'm proud to have taken action - whether it was voting to defund NPR, fighting alongside Senator Marco Rubio against job-killing EPA regulations, or stopping Congress from funding a $450 million jet engine that Pentagon didn't even want!
Last November you sent a clear message to Washington - CUT WASTEFUL GOVERNMENT SPENDING.
The entire country heard the message... President Barack Obama and the tax and spend liberals in Congress didn't. Today, I'm asking you to stand with me and defend our conservative principles. Our values and principles as true conservatives are being tested. But expressing our concern and our outrage is not enough. We need to organize, mobilize and fight to take our nation back. Together we can get Florida and our nation back on the right track.
Thank you for all you've done and all you're going to do.

Florida Continues to Set Up a Shadow Government
Continuing the obscure mission of the ICLEI operatives of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development, the legislatures in Florida has introduced concurrent bills to expand its reach in controlling regulation in furtherance of Agenda 21. Interestingly, while writing this entry, I tries to link to the UN references I have for the Sustainable Development initiatives. The UN is apparently erasing these pages systematically. So whatever reference material you may have should be saved locally. Do not depend on the links.

Jim DeMint machine could rival NRSC
By: Manu Raju and John Bresnahan
March 10, 2011 04:32 AM EST
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) is already building an aggressive campaign machine for the 2012 Senate elections, promising to push his party further to the right, despite angering many in the GOP establishment with his political activities last year.
DeMint’s Senate Conservatives Fund wants to rake in a staggering $15 million, which is nearly $6 million more than in 2010 when his political action committee raised more money than any other politician’s PAC.
DeMint is now renting a Capitol Hill townhouse for his political operation — just a few blocks from the National Republican Senatorial Committee, the official campaign arm for Senate Republicans. And unlike the NRSC, which plans to stay out of contested primaries, DeMint is prepared to be an active force, jumping into intraparty battles by pushing conservative candidates against moderate Republicans.
The buildup is the latest sign that DeMint has become the pre-eminent conservative political activist in the Senate, and he plans to push candidates whose ideological views align with his and the tea party movement’s — even if it sets up a major clash with the NRSC, which always looks for the most electable prospect.

General Misunderstandings – Tenth Amendment Center
Paul Abrams trotted out one of the favorite progressive arguments for virtually unlimited federal power in a March 9 Huffington Post article.
The good ole’ “general welfare” clause.
Abrams brings quite an academic pedigree to the party. Yale educated, summa cum laude, multiple advanced degrees…which goes to show an Ivy League education doesn’t necessarily guarantee a student will actually graduate knowing anything.
OK, perhaps that’s a bit harsh. He may be a fine lawyer and an excellent medical doctor, but a constitutional scholar – not so much.
Abrams’ argument goes like this.Wednesday, March 9, 2011

Michael S. Coffman, Ph.D., Property Rights
America is in a war of world views between the principles of freedom laid down by John Locke (1632-1704) in his Two Treatises on Government(1689) and Jean Jacques Rousseau in his Social Contract (1762) and Discourse on the Origin of Inequality (1754). Government’s purpose, according to Locke, is to join with others to “unite, for the mutual preservation of their lives, liberties and estate, which I call by the general name, property.” According to Locke, the primary reason for government “is the preservation of their property.” (Italics added) This fundamental principle became the cornerstone of the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution.

Today we dive into the mind of a liberal. It's an exercise not for the faint of heart. You may think you are smart or experienced or savvy or (insert other intellectual adjective), but trying to understand how liberals think is a process that should be on a Mensa exam. Harder still is trying to figure out how liberals think their ideas could actually work. But those are just details, right?
If there's a problem, those on the left have a government program to "fix" it. Even if there's not a problem... even if there is a segment of society that's humming right along on its own... liberals want the government to have a piece of that too.
Fundamentally, the flaw in the logic of the left is that they want the "government" to pay for things. Here's where that Mensa certification comes in handy, because apparently they don't realize that when it comes to paying out funds, WE are the government. We are the ones footing the bill. If the government is PAYING someone, then they are TAKING money from someone else in order to do it.
Just listen to this speech from Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr.
OBAMA'S ALL-OUT WAR ON AMERICA
By Dr. Michael S. Coffman Ph. D.

NewsWithViews.com
Even as Mideast oil supplies are increasingly imperiled by civil unrest, President Obama is systematically blocking every effort to develop domestic supplies of oil. If the turmoil in the Mideast escalates, it could unnecessarily mean $5 or more a gallon gas and the collapse of the American economy.
Based on solely on his actions, it would seem President Obama hates America and most Americans. After all, a robust economy is dependent on a cheap supply of energy. Yet, the Obama administration has thrown roadblock after roadblock in the way of developing domestic coal, oil and natural gas supplies that would assure a stable, cheap supply of energy for America.
Perhaps this shouldn’t be a surprise. After all, Obama warned that his cap and trade plans would “bankrupt” the coal industry and necessarily cause energy prices to “skyrocket” during the 2008 campaign. But, the electorate didn’t pay any attention because he promised hope and change.
The Wizardry Behind Fishery Management
Monday, 14 June 2004 16:00
Summary: FLORIDA -- Like Dorothy's Wizard, the main force driving the new paradigms in fishery management policy today have remained relatively hidden, cloaked in an obscure fog of distant international environmental policy meetings. It's now past time to pull back the curtain and see exactly who is back there, writes Sid Preskitt.

Death Wish
Posted by Jay Tea

Two stories came out last week, two stories that paint a very, very ugly picture about the Obama administration and its notions of "border security."
The first: a report by an ATF agent that he was assigned to track stolen guns -- and when given the chance to seize them, was ordered to allow the guns to "walk" and continue right into the hands of Mexican drug cartels. The theory, he was told, was that the intelligence gained by following the guns and the trail of possession they passed through was more valuable than the risks of letting those guns get into the hands of the cartels.
The second: a report on the murder of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry last December. Terry was part of a patrol along the Mexican border when they were confronted by Mexican drug cartel gunners. The Border Patrol agents were, on the specific orders of their superiors, armed with non-lethal weapons, and opened fire with shotguns firing beanbags. The Mexicans responded with real guns -- and Agent Terry was killed.

Quote of the Day: Russell Kirk, The Object of Human Life
Wednesday, March 2, 2011
At the back of every discussion of the good society lies this question, What is the object of human life? The enlightened conservative does not believe that the end or aim of life is competition, or success or enjoyment; or longevity; or power; or possessions. He believes, instead that the object of life is Love. He knows that the just and ordered society is that in which Love governs us, so far as Love ever can reign in this world of sorrows; and he knows that the anarchical or the tyrannical society is that in which Love lies corrupt. He has learnt that Love is the source of all being, and that Hell itself is ordained by Love. He understands that Death, when we have finished the part that was assigned to us, is the reward of Love. And he apprehends the truth that the greatest happiness ever granted to a man is the privilege of being happy in the hour of his death.
He has no intention of converting this human society of ours into an efficient machine for efficient machine-operators, dominated by master mechanics. Men are put into this world, he realizes, to struggle, to suffer, to contend against the evil that is in their neighbors and in themselves, and to aspire toward the triumph of Love. They are put into this world to live like men, and to die like men. He seeks to preserve a society which allows men to attain manhood, rather than keeping them within bonds of perpetual childhood. With Dante, he looks upward from this place of slime, this world of gorgons and chimeras, toward the light which gives Love to this poor earth and all the stars. And, with Burke, he knows that "they will never love where they ought to love, who do not hate where they ought to hate."--Russell Kirk (Prospects for Conservatives)
