A Gentle Reminder for the New Year

As we close 2014 it may be prudent to remind our readers and subscribers of certain principles that guide our work. We recommend that everyone review the words of Russell Kirk on Conservatism. To entice you to complete this task, we offer the following excerpt:

It has been said by liberal intellectuals that the conservative believes all social questions, at heart, to be questions of private morality. Properly understood, this statement is quite true. A society in which men and women are governed by belief in an enduring moral order, by a strong sense of right and wrong, by personal convictions about justice and honor, will be a good society—whatever political machinery it may utilize; while a society in which men and women are morally adrift, ignorant of norms, and intent chiefly upon gratification of appetites, will be a bad society—no matter how many people vote and no matter how liberal its formal constitution may be.

Enjoy your New Year's celebration.

Support for Common Core could cost Jeb Bush in a GOP primary

TALLAHASSEE — Jeb Bush never wavered in his support for the Common Core state standards — not even after the education benchmarks became a target for tea party groups decrying federal overreach in education.

That may hurt the former Florida governor, who has said he is considering a run for the White House.

Bush would find himself in a crowded field of Republican candidates, some of whom — along with ardent conservatives nationwide — have stepped up their attacks on Common Core.

Speaking this week on Fox News Sunday, conservative syndicated columnist George Will said Bush has "four strikes against him — Common Core, immigration, his name and the big sign on his back that says establishment choice."

Issa Releases Report on IRS Targeting as 113th Congress Concludes

Review of 1.3 million pages and 52 transcribed reveals evidence of bias, politics in IRS

WASHINGTON – House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif., today released a new staff report, “The Internal Revenue Service’s Targeting of Conservative Tax-Exempt Applicants: Report of Findings for the 113th Congress.” The report represents findings from the review of over 1.3 million pages of documents and 52 transcribed interviews with IRS, Treasury, and Justice Department employees.

The report’s conclusion reads in part:

Conservative organizations were not just singled out because of their political beliefs—they were targeted by IRS officials and employees who expressed a general loathing toward them even while begrudgingly admitting that those organizations were in compliance with the only thing the IRS should care about: the federal tax code. Documents and interviews show IRS officials failed to limit their professional judgments to enforcing the tax code and instead inserted their own beliefs and judgments into federal matters to influence outcomes and decisions. One IRS agent wrote about an organization applying for 501(c)(4) status that donated to other organizations that engaged in political activity, “I’m not sure we can deny them because, technically, I don’t know that I can deny them simply for donating to another 501(c)(4).” Another agent responded, “This sounds like a bad org . . . This org gives me an icky feeling.”

REPORT: The Chain of Environmental Command

EPW Republicans release in-depth environmental collusion report, “The Chain of Environmental Command: How a Club of Billionaires and Their Foundations Control the Environmental Movement and Obama’s EPA”

July 30, 2014

U.S Environment and Public Works Committee Republicans released a report today highlighting the collusion between environmental activists, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and billionaires using large sums of money to influence environmental public policy.

The Chain of Environmental Command: How a Club of Billionaires and Their Foundations Control the Environmental Movement and Obama's EPA

The report uncovers the sophisticated practice of how wealthy donors, referred to in the report as the "Billionaire's Club," funnel money to far-left environmental activists through public charities. It also shows that current leadership at the EPA is very much an active partner in the far-left environmental movement, and even sponsors their efforts through grants to environmental activists.

Key points from the report:

• The "Billionaire's Club," an exclusive group of wealthy individuals, directs the far-left environmental movement. The members of this elite liberal club funnel their fortunes through private foundations to execute their personal political agenda, which is centered around restricting the use of fossil fuels in the United States.

• Public charities attempt to provide the maximum amount of control to their donors through fiscal sponsorships, which are a legally suspect innovation unique to the left, whereby the charity essentially sells its nonprofit status to a group for a fee.

• Public charity activist groups discussed in this report propagate the false notion that they are independent, citizen-funded groups working altruistically. In reality, they work in tandem with wealthy donors to maximize the value of the donors' tax deductible donations and leverage their combined resources to influence elections and policy outcomes, with a focus on the EPA.

• Environmental Grantmakers Association (EGA) is a place where wealthy donors meet and coordinate the distribution of grants to advance the environmental movement. It is a secretive organization, refusing to disclose their membership list to Congress.

• The Obama Administration has installed an audacious green-revolving door among senior officials at EPA, which has become a valuable asset for the environmental movement and its wealthy donors.

• Former environmentalists working at EPA funnel government money through grants to their former employers and colleagues.

• Under President Obama, EPA has given more than $27 million in taxpayer-funded grants to major environmental groups. Notably, the Natural Resources Defense Council and Environmental Defense Fund - two key activists groups with significant ties to senior EPA officials - have collected more than $1 million in funding each.

• EPA also gives grants to lesser-known groups. For example, the Louisiana Bucket Brigade received hundreds of thousands of grants under former Administrator Lisa Jackson despite challenges by state regulators over the use of such grants.

• In New York and Colorado, a pseudo grassroots effort to attack hydraulic fracturing has germinated from massive amounts of funding by the NY-based Park Foundation, as well as CA-based Schmidt Family Foundation and Tides Foundation.

• Bold Nebraska is another example of faux grassroots where a purportedly local organization is, in fact, an arm of the Billionaire's Club. It is a shield for wealthy and distant non-Nebraskan interests who seek to advance a political agenda without drawing attention to the fact that they have little connection to the state.

• The circumstances surrounding the flow of money from 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) groups, and the likelihood of lax oversight, raises questions as to whether 501(c)(3) nonprofit foundations and charities are indirectly funding political activities.

• 501(c)(4) Green Tech Action Fund receives millions of dollars from green 501(c)(3) organizations, then distributes the funds to other 501(c)(4) groups that donate to political campaigns.

• The Billionaire's Club knowingly collaborates with questionable offshore funders to maximize support for the far-left environmental movement.

TheBlaze.com: Ted Cruz Forced the Senate to Vote on Obama’s Immigration Plan — Here’s How it Turned Out

Dec. 13, 2014 9:51pm Pete Kasperowicz Furnace

On Saturday night, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) won a battle, but not the war, against President Barack Obama’s executive action on immigration.

Cruz led the fight to force a Senate vote on Obama’s immigration plans, as a condition of approving a massive, $1.1 trillion spending bill for 2015. He was able to make that vote happen by arguing that the spending bill violated the Constitution because it would fund Obama’s plan — a plan Cruz and other Republicans say is illegal because it rewrites immigration law without any input from Congress.

Eagle Forum: New, Legally Binding Treaty Emerges on First Day of UN’s Lima Climate Conference

By Cathie Adams
President, Texas Eagle Forum
Eagle Forum UN Issues Chairman

December 2, 2014

At a United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change meeting in Lima, Peru, delegates from 196 parties are drafting a new legally binding treaty to replace the 1997 Kyoto Protocol that is to be completed next year in Paris, France. At the outset of negotiations, environmentalists are calling for the new treaty to mandate a cap and tax on greenhouse gas emissions to go into effect by 2020, and to eliminate the use of fossil fuels altogether by 2050.

President Obama’s recent climate announcement with China, that the U.S. would reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 28% below 2005 levels by 2025 is a boost to environmentalists at the Peru meeting that extends from December 1-12.

Stated by Martin Kaiser of Greenpeace, “In Lima, the countries must agree on the long-term goal of phasing out fossil fuel emissions to zero by mid-century while moving towards 100% renewable energy for all in a fair transition period. Subsidies for fossil fuel industries must be shifted towards renewable energy deployment and climate adaptation for vulnerable countries. In countries like the US, China, and the EU, the phase-out of coal must be accelerated.”

Enrique Maurtua Konstantinidis, international policy adviser for Climate Action Network Latin America added, “We must leave fossil fuels in the ground and not repeat the steps of the developed countries that brought us to this point.”

The UNFCCC thesis is that rich nations are responsible for climate change because they burn fossil fuels to produce energy, even though there is no conclusive science to substantiate the claims. Furthermore, the poor nations want the rich nations fork over a minimum of $100 million annually for the UN’s Green Climate Fund that is to afford renewable energy for the poor.

On the first day of the conference, Climate Action Network, a conglomerate of 900 radical green groups from about 100 nations, mocked Australia, Belgium, Ireland and Austria because they have yet to donate to a new Green Climate Fund. With a new legally binding treaty, they hope to make nations pay penalties for using fossil fuels. The climate will continue to change, even if nations are energy poor.

Remember it was President Bill Clinton’s VP Al Gore who flew to Kyoto, Japan in 1997 to revive talks for the same scheme to cap and tax greenhouse gas emissions. That treaty was never ratified by the U.S. Senate because it would have killed American jobs and devastated our economy. Even so, Americans should expect Obama to sign the new legally binding treaty before he leaves office, which should make American voters cautious about electing another President Clinton in 2016.

ObamaCare Provides Incentives for Employers to Hire Illegal Aliens

Lynch: Obamacare & Amnesty Collide to CRUSH American Workers

28 Nov 2014

So, what have you done to restore the Republic on this extended holiday weekend? We have a suggestion – hammer your Congressman (and Senators).

26 Nov 2014 | from Breitbart.com, an article by MATTHEW BOYLE:

The Congressional Research Service (CRS) has concluded that House Appropriations Committee chairman Rep. Hal Rogers (R-KY) is wrong, and that Congress can in fact block funding for President Barack Obama’s executive amnesty order.

“In light of Congress’s constitutional power over the purse, the Supreme Court has recognized that ‘Congress may always circumscribe agency discretion to allocate resources by putting restrictions in the operative statutes,’” the CRS, a legislative authority on Capitol Hill, wrote in a report sent to incoming Senate Budget Committee chairman Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL). “Where Congress has done so, ‘an agency is not free simply to disregard statutory responsibilities.’ Therefore, if a statute were enacted which prohibited appropriated funds from being used for some specified purposes, then the relevant funds would be unavailable to be obligated or expended for those purposes.”

numbersUSAlogo_sliceThe website NumbersUSA.com offers a convenient and simple way to contact your elected representatives with a pre-written message that you may customize with your own comments. Here is the one I sent today; an example of what you can also do.

Representative Patrick Murphy
U.S. House of Representatives, 1517 Longworth House Office Building
Washington, FL 20515

Dear Representative Murphy:

A new poll of actual voters from Tuesday's mid-term elections has found that 74% of voters oppose Pres. Obama bypassing Congress and taking executive action on immigration. Further, 80% of actual voters think new jobs should go to Americans and legal immigrants already in the country. I urge you to tell the White House not to take executive action on immigration since three-quarters of voters oppose the President acting alone.

American voters have overwhelmingly shown that they are against efforts, both by President Obama and by Congress, to amnesty illegal aliens. The results of the poll show that voters do not want the president to go it alone on this issue and losses by pro-amnesty candidates show that Americans do not want Congress to reward illegal aliens with work permits and legal status.

President Obama, however, has decided to ignore the message sent by the American people and put illegal aliens ahead jobless Americans and legal immigrants already in the United States, even though 80% of Americans oppose this action.

I hope you will urge President Obama to back down from his executive action cliff. The American people have spoken and they want him to put Americans, and the rule of law, first.

Phone me if you would like to talk about this,

Jim McGovern

P.S. I am not going to let this go. Many people feel the same way. We will not rest until this threat is reversed.

Open Letter to Senator McConnell and Speaker Boehner

by Phyllis Schlafly | November 26, 2014

Vote 2014

President Barack Obama proudly announced that his policies would be on the ballot in the November 4 midterm elections. He got his answer loud and clear: the American people said, “No thanks.”

The voters gave Republicans a big majority equal only to the stunning congressional victory 68 years ago in 1946. That Congress, known as the 80th Congress, which elected 57 new Republican House Members and 13 new Republican Senators, should serve as a model to the Members elected in 2014 for what a courageous conservative Republican Congress can accomplish.

The Jefferson Statement

On September 11, 2014, some of our nation’s finest legal minds convened at The Jefferson Hotel in Washington, D.C., to engage in a full, robust discussion of the Convention of States Project.  The participants—including former members of the Reagan administration, seasoned Supreme Court litigators, and Ivy League professors—discussed and debated arguments for and against the use of Article V to restrain federal power and evaluated its potential to be used safely and effectively.

The hotel, which is four blocks from the White House, was the ideal location for this conversation.  In fact, the hotel’s namesake, Thomas Jefferson, believed Article V should be used to “correct breaches of the Constitution.”

In this historic location, these renowned legal experts discussed how to effectively use the Constitution to save the Constitution. Several hours later, they had achieved consensus and endorsed the Convention of States Project.

They specifically rejected the argument that a Convention of States is likely to be misused or improperly controlled by Congress, concluding instead that the mechanism provided by the Founders is safe.  Moreover, they shared the conviction that Article V provides the only constitutionally effective means to restore our federal system.

In an era of quick fixes, press conferences, and spin, this meeting was designed to go to the root of the problems that ail our nation.  Thankfully, these constitutional experts saw the potential and the hope our Founders gave us even as they were forming our country.

The conclusions of these prestigious experts are memorialized in The Jefferson Statement, which is reproduced here.  The names and biographical information of the endorsers, who have formed a “Legal Board of Reference” for the Convention of States Project, are listed below the Statement.

Let’s Keep Trying

This is a letter we sent with the help of the Tea Party Patriots and AmericanCommitment.org . You can send one of your own.

19 November 2014

Dear Representative Murphy:
Dear Senator Nelson:
Dear Senator Rubio:

I am outraged that President Obama is ignoring the clear demand from the American people for smaller, less intrusive government and attempting to improperly influence an independent agency, the FCC, to reduce the Internet to a government-controlled "public utility."

FCC "public utility" regulations on the Internet will devastate private investment, undermine competition, and stall out innovation. It will undo a broad, bipartisan consensus in favor of an unregulated Internet that has been amazingly successful for decades.

The liberal groups calling for "public utility" regulation are extremists, including the group Free Press whose founder has openly called for the destruction of the capitalist economy.

These groups have deceived many Americans into thinking that the way to keep the Internet they know and love is to impose draconian, unprecedented new regulations. I strongly disagree.

One former FCC commissioner has warned that reclassification would also impose a massive new tax on Internet service without a vote of Congress; that's wrong.

I urge you to pass language in an upcoming must-pass vehicle blocking any move to turn the Internet into a public utility, and, if the FCC persists, to seriously consider legislation eliminating the FCC altogether.

Please respond to this letter with a clear commitment to act on this issue.

Mr. and Mrs. James McGovern

Replacing the Environmental Protection Agency

Jay Lehr, Ph.D. – July 15, 2014

The national EPA must be systematically dismantled and replaced by a Committee of the Whole of the 50 state environmental protection agencies. Those agencies in nearly all cases long ago took over primary responsibility for the implementation of environmental laws passed by Congress (or simply handed down by EPA as fiat rulings without congressional vote or oversight).

In the aftermath of the collapse of SOPA and PIPA, the content industry has laudably turned its attention to voluntary measures, notably including the successful Copyright Alert System, and now a new website that makes it easier than ever to find movies and TV shows for legal download: WheretoWatch.com.

This new search engine, launched by the Motion Picture Association of America, addresses a significant problem facing the U.S. economy – piracy. And it does so without the interference of government.

Alongside other voluntary industry efforts, WheretoWatch.com will assist well-meaning consumers in quickly and easily finding legal ways to watch their favorite content online through streaming or download.  Such efforts help protect the consumer, the entertainment industry, and the economy from rogue websites providing multimedia content by infringing on copyright laws.

Protecting copyrighted material from being illegally disseminated not only protects consumers and producers of content, but it protects the U.S. economy as well. According to the National Crime Prevention Association, “the U.S. economy loses $58 billion each year to copyright infringement.”

Piracy needs to be stopped and WheretoWatch.com, along with the Copyright Alert System, are shining beacons of success that show just how successful voluntary industry initiatives can be at combating piracy and, at the same time, providing a service that big government simply cannot provide without appropriating tax dollars for the cause and fostering bureaucratic procedures that bog down government efficiency.

With the recent moves by President Obama to supercharge regulatory agencies and micromanage the U.S. economy, it is important to acknowledge voluntary, free-market efforts to address genuine economic problems through voluntary initiatives.

WheretoWatch.com is a clear example of how capable industries are to create effective solutions for themselves that ultimately benefit the general public and the economy as a whole. These voluntary efforts should be applauded and supported. (And the next time you hear someone say stealing content is justified because it is too hard to find it legally, you will know where to point them.)

Democrats and Republicans Alike Get the Supremacy Clause Wrong

tenthamendmentby Matthew Sickmeier

When the issue of federal power over states’ rights come into the forefront, Democrats are quick to cite the supremacy clause as beyond debate.  Yet, Republicans often use the same talking points.  When GOP policies need that extra “federal muscle,” Republicans imitate their political opponents and claim federal law as supreme without question.

Case in point, Rep.Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) and Rep. Andy Harris (R-MD) are making the case that a legalization initiativeover marijuana in D.C would be trumped by Federal power if passed by voters.

“I’m kind of naive, I guess. I thought federal law trumped state and local law. I thought that’s why we had a supremacy clause,” Gowdy, a former federal prosecutor, told The Hill on Friday.

While Congress has special jurisdiction over the District of Columbia, the problem is the general statement from Gowdy that federal law, by its existence, simply trumps all state and local law.

These defenders look to the supremacy clause as their four aces, but omit the text  itself.  “This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof…shall be the supreme law of the land…” (emphasis added)

Simply put, laws are only supreme if such power is delegated to the Federal Government in the Constitution.  Anything not expressly delegated is left to the States and the people thereof vis–à–vis the 10th Amendment.  As Hamilton wrote in Federalist #33 “It will not, I presume, have escaped observation that it expressly confines this supremacy to laws made pursuant to the Constitution….”

If a federal law is “not in pursuance” of the Constitution, it’s therefore null and void.  Game, set, match …how’s that for four aces?

Common Core and Agenda 21

Many of the major schemes driving these very deeply disturbing “standards” was overlooked. Qatar Awareness Campaign – The Stream

Ms. Malika Bilal and Ms. Femi Oke
Al Jazeera English
PO Box 23127
Doha – Qatar

Dear Ms. Bilal and Ms. Femi Oke:

This letter is being sent to you on behalf of the Qatar Awareness Campaign Coalition. The purpose is to inform you and the public of the activities of Qatar, the country which owns Al Jazeera, the network on which you are co-hosts of the program, The Stream.

We urge you to read the information below, which includes evidence that Qatar is arguably the preeminent sponsor of terror in the world today. It is a benefactor of the genocidal armies of ISIS, al Qaeda, and Boko Haram; it is involved in Taliban narcotics trafficking through a relationship with the Pakistani National Logistics Cell; and profits from operating a virtual slave state. Qatar is involved in terror operations from Nigeria to Gaza to Syria to Iraq.

So the public understands why this letter is addressed to you both, who are American (Ms. Bilal) and British (Ms. Oke) citizens and co-hosts of an Al Jazeera daily program, here is pertinent background on the Doha-based network.

  • In 1996, then Emir of Qatar, Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, provided a $137 million loan to start Al Jazeera. Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani was the ruling monarch of Qatar from 1995-2013.
  • Al Jazeera is based out of Doha, the capital of Qatar.
  • In July 2013, 22 employees of Al Jazeera resigned after the station “air[ed] lies and misle[d] viewers” (according to Al Jazeera correspondent) regarding the Egyptian revolution on July 4, which ousted Muslim Brotherhood president Mohamed Morsi.
  • Al Jazeera is home to the Muslim Brotherhood’s spiritual leader (and Morsi-backer) Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who reaches an estimated 80 million viewers each week.

In light of Al Jazeera’s consistent and vocal support for the Muslim Brotherhood and their associated terror campaigns, we ask that you consider the attached sourced report on Qatar’s activities. The links cited are vetted and credible sources. We hope you take the time to verify the truth of the statements for yourself.

After doing so, the Coalition of the Qatar Awareness Campaign calls on you to exert due influence on the Qatari government to cease any type of involvement in all forms of Islamic terrorism, slavery, and drug trafficking!

Zombie: Climate Movement Drops Mask, Admits Communist Agenda

by Zombie | September 23rd, 2014

Communists along with a few environmental groups staged a “People’s Climate Rally” in Oakland, California on Sunday, September 21, in conjunction with the larger “People’s Climate March” in New York City on the same day.

Wait — did I say communists? Isn’t that a bit of an exaggeration? image

At the New York event, many people noticed that gee, there sure are a lot of communists at this march. But in Oakland — always on the cutting edge — the entire “climate change” movement at last fully, irrevocably and overtly embraced communism as its stated goal. Any concerns about “optics” or operating in “stealth mode” were abandoned.

The “climate change” “crisis” is now nothing but the latest justification for “total revolution” and getting rid of capitalism forever.

Miller: Hell Freezes Over: Limbaugh Unloads on Republicans

Listeners have been asking Rush Limbaugh why he hasn’t devoted much airtime to election-related polls or analyzing the Republican Party’s chances of triumphing in the next election.

LimbaughThursday, Limbaugh addressed these questions, explaining that he “is not gonna talk about something if I have to do it perfunctorily, if I’m not into it and don’t care about [it].”

And if he can’t get excited about “the nuts and bolts of the election,” he explained, it’s because he doesn’t know “what the Republican Party message is” anymore.

Polls show that Obama and the Democrats are less popular than they’ve been in years, but at the same time, Limbaugh noted, these polls don’t exactly foreshadow an upcoming Republican landslide, either.

Limbaugh tried to explain why.

Obama Has Begun to Systematically Depopulate and Deindustrialize the Suburbs

If you live in the suburbs, you might be wise to advise your children on how to live, work and survive in America’s inner cities because that is where they are likely to be living in the near future in a Warsaw ghetto type of scenario.

The mass migration from the suburbs back into densely populated urban areas is not a next week thing, or a next month thing or even next year proposition, but the groundwork is happening right now. If you are not a Baby Boomer, you will not likely be retiring in the suburbs.

Please take any of my jewelry to the Salvation Army or Cash Converters. Then, sell my car, take my front door key away from me and throw me out of the house. Then, disown me and never talk to me again. And don't forget to write me out of your will and leave my share to any charity you choose.’ "

"Holy Smokes," replied the friend, "she actually said that?"

"Well, she didn't put it quite like that, she actually said... 'Dad, meet my new boyfriend - Mohammed. We're going to work together on Hillary's election campaign!' ”

FEE: Crony Phony Drug War

The Feds attack FedEx on behalf of Big Pharma and expand the police state

The Wall Street Journal recently reported that the FedEx Corp. pleaded not guilty in a San Francisco federal court “on 15 charges related to transporting painkillers and other prescription drugs that had been sold illegally.” FEElogo

The “illegal drugs” do not refer to cocaine or meth but to generic medications people can buy from online pharmacies for far less than brand name ones produced by pharmaceutical corporations (Big Pharma). As part of a crackdown on prescription drug abuse, a number of companies—including competitor UPS—agreed to pay civil fines over claims that they sold or delivered medications they knew were not for legitimate medical use. FedEx refused and the Department of Justice (DOJ) is seeking a massive punitive settlement. Prosecutors claim FedEx earned “at least $820 million, and if the company is found guilty, it faces a potential maximum fine of twice that, or about $1.6 billion.”

People arguably have the right to determine their own medical treatments, including what drugs they use. And one can argue about whether a parcel delivery company should be responsible for what gets delivered. But the criminal case against FedEx raises a separate issue: crony capitalism.

FOXnews.com: Historic fail? Greatest Americans missing from proposed curriculum

Joshua Rhett Miller  By Joshua Rhett Miller

Published August 07, 2014 | FoxNews.com

New history curriculum standards proposed for top high school students leave out such American icons as Benjamin Franklin and Martin Luther King, Jr., paint colonists as bigots and gloss over the Greatest Generation's fight to save the world from Nazi Germany, according to conservative education activists who want the framework delayed — and perhaps scrapped altogether.

An open letter circulated by conservative education activists is calling on The College Board to delay implementing new Advanced Placement U.S. History guidelines, saying a “rising tide of opposition” believes the curriculum will take the nation’s classrooms in a bad direction.

The Aug. 4 letter, which is addressed to David Coleman, president/CEO of the New York-based nonprofit, claims the new 98-page curriculum is a “dramatic departure” from the five-page outline previously used by teachers and students and offers a consistently negative view of Americans as oppressors and exploiters.

by Rev. James Molgano

In a sermon given in Massachusetts in April 1799, the Rev. Jedediah Morse spoke forebodingly of our present day: “To the kindly influence of Christianity we owe that degree of civil freedom, and political and social happiness which mankind now enjoys. In proportion as the genuine effects of Christianity are diminished in any nation, either through unbelief, or the corruption of its doctrines, or the neglect of its institutions; in the same proportion will the people of that nation recede from the blessings of genuine freedom, and approximate the miseries of complete despotism. All efforts to destroy the foundations of our holy religion ultimately tend to the subversion also of our political freedom and happiness.” Morse’s immortal words not only convey transcendent truth but also the reality of immanence that must be rekindled and acted upon with utmost urgency by each and every faithful and loyal citizen.

Our moral duty pertaining to freedom must entail at the same time a responsibility to an immutable law a priori inscribed in man’s soul, that is, essence precedes existence and thus experience. For the existentialist, the converse is true. Made in the Image and Likeness of God, man has attempted to cast “golden idols” for the sake of unbridled passions and pleasure, supplanting Creator with the created, thereby allowing for the seduction of the lower appetites and the corruption of moral conscience by false indoctrinations and ideologies of the world, such as those of the 18th century Illuminati whose tenets today are intellectually and socially constructed within the hallmarks of liberalism. The “drip…drip …drip” effect over the past 50 years has resulted in a relentless barrage of virtually uncontested warfare that has manifested a pandemic of suffering that is both personal and universal. Myriad souls are at great peril and totter on the brink of perdition. Apathy and fear have eroded the pillars of veracity and courage and the ensuing tumult has created a seemingly surreal landscape that epitomizes some of Hollywood’s best horror drama, eerily lending credence to the cliché “art imitates life.”

Very adeptly and surreptitiously, agents of the world have obstinately disseminated their tainted rhetoric that castigates practically all norms of traditional virtue from marriage and family life to the economy; the former being maligned and threatened by the “reconstruction of reality within [man] himself at the center, while centering himself on nothing but the works of his own hands …” (Crisis Magazine, July 23, 2014) owing to false constructs of tolerance and plurality, while the latter has oppressively moved from a true charity-based incentive to a legalized sense of entitlement. The nihilism and hubris that exists in large measure within the socio-political sphere is astounding as it propagates agendas not only bereft of Divinely inspired confluence but also, all too sadly, to the detriment of souls rather than their good as many may think. But what is worse still is the capital sin of sloth that is to the soul what darnel is to wheat. Sloth is not simply laziness but rather an egregious spiritual wounding that deceptively disguises itself in the overindulgence of temporal tasks or pleasure, thereby drawing a soul further and further away from God and the essential purpose for being created …eternal life!

Let us then heed with exigency, “Knowing that intercessory prayer is our mightiest weapon and the supreme call for all Christians today, I pleadingly urge our people everywhere to pray. Believing that prayer is the greatest contribution people can make in this critical hour, I humbly urge that we take time to pray - to really pray.” (General Robert E. Lee 1863)

aish.com: No More Apologies

I am sick of apologizing for Israel when it is Israel that really deserves an apology.

by Sara Debbie Gutfreund  | Published: July 22, 2014

I am sick of apologizing for Israel’s right to defend itself. I am sick of the word “ceasefire” when all that really means is “time for Hamas to build more rockets” while we stand by helplessly. I am sick of the UN calling this an Israeli-Palestinian War when all along it’s clearly been a prolonged terrorist attack that the IDF is courageously trying to stop. I’m sick of people criticizing Israel for killing innocent people when they have done more than any country to warn Gazans and have even brought the gunmen into their own hospitals. I’m sick of apologizing for being a Jew. For being part of a nation whose kindness and compassion shine through even on the battlefield.

Somehow the world is turning everything around. Turning the terrorists into victims. Turning the attacked into the aggressor. This is the anti-Semitism of today. A hatred and disgust with Israel no matter what we do. And now the FAA has put a ban on US flights to Israel, isolating us from each other as the rockets continue to fall.

Now I ask you. Who should be apologizing?

Netanyahu orders Israeli military to prepare for 'significant expansion' of Gaza ground offensive

Published July 18, 2014

This Link leads to story and video clip:

Netanyahu said the military's primary goal would be to destroy underground tunnels used by Hamas to attack the Jewish State. The announcement came hours after Israeli ground troops and tanks struck more than 100 terror targets in Israel's first major ground offensive in Gaza in just over five years.

Israel Invades Gaza

Israel has taken the next step in its response to unprovoked Hamas rocket attacks from Gaza. Fox News reports, "The Israeli military reportedly sent thousands of troops into the Gaza Strip Thursday as part of a large-scale ground operation aimed at destroying underground tunnels and other 'terror infrastructure' used by Hamas to target the Jewish State." This follows 10 days of aerial bombings against Hamas targets and Hamas' rejection of an Egyptian-brokered cease-fire. Israel had little choice but to respond with overwhelming force, as Hamas has proven incapable of anything but violence. Despite Israel's above-and-beyond efforts to avoid civilian casualties, Hamas deliberately puts civilians in harm's way to increase those casualties. Furthermore, The Wall Street Journal adds, "Hamas hides its immense arsenal of ever-longer range rockets in hospitals, mosques and, as we learned Thursday, even U.N. administered schools." Western Left media outlets routinely fall for Hamas' charade, offering misplaced sympathy while condemning Israel. But Israel should stay the course and neutralize the threat.

The Shady Seven: GOP senators paid for attack ads against conservative Chris McDaniel

July 17, 2014 By Katie - According to financial documents filed with the Federal Election Commission by pro-Thad Cochran super PAC “All Citizens for Mississippi,” attack ads directed at Mississippi State Senator Chris McDaniel that painted conservative Republicans and tea party activists as racists were directly funded by seven GOP senators, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. In total, the Shady Seven gave $160,000 to the anti-conservative cause:

  1. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) — $50,000
  2. Bob Corker (R-TN) — $30,000
  3. Rob Portman (R-OH) — $25,000
  4. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) — $25,000
  5. Richard Burr (R-NC) — $20,000
  6. Roy Blunt (R-MO) — $5,000
  7. Mike Crapo (R-ID) — $5,000

But wait — it gets even better. All Citizens for Mississippi then gave a similar amount to a liberal group to run racial attacks against McDaniel. These ads claimed that a McDaniel win would be a loss “for race relations between blacks and whites” and suggested McDaniel would reverse civil rights. Additionally, the PAC paid for fliers to hand out to black citizens proclaiming, “The Tea Party Intends to Prevent You From Voting,” and gave thousands of dollars to Democratic activists to go out and canvas votes for Cochran.

The Shady Seven do not have the best interests of America in mind; they clearly would risk losing a Senate majority so long as it meant their own would be re-elected. Every red-blooded American should call and write these seven senators and let them know that their deplorable actions will not be tolerated!

RED STATE: Breaking the system

By: John Hayward  |  July 16th, 2014 RedState_Capture

Illegal immigration activist Jose Antonio Vargas was detained (as it turned out, briefly) by the authorities this week, after running into trouble at a Border Patrol checkpoint en route to catch a plane.  The trouble is that he’s been flaunting the immigration laws of the United States with impunity for years.  He’s a legal citizen of the Philippines, but not of the United States, having been brought here illegally as a child.  He didn’t learn he lacked legal residency status until he tried to get a driver’s license at the age of 16.  This supposedly makes him an irrefutable critic of the immigration system.  In truth, he embodies far more problems than that.

For example, there’s the little matter of that driver’s license he couldn’t get.  He simply ignores that law, too, and drives without one.  He actually did get caught once, but the same overwhelming mega-State that burdens ever aspect of your life with countless fees and regulations just blew it off, the same way he’s functionally immune to the laws governing citizenship, or the penalties for falsifying documents, which he has done with some frequency.
