Sherline: Scrap The Income Tax (And The IRS) – Part II

By Harris R. Sherline June 16, 2011

By 1992, America’s National Debt had grown to over $3.8 trillion, increased to over $4.5 trillion in 1994, and is now more than $14 trillion.

The nation finds itself on a taxation treadmill to feed an out-of-control budget-monster. But the taxes Americans pay are not the only cost they must bear to support the nation’s huge budget deficits. There are also the hidden costs of taxation.

The Cato Institute reported that businesses and individuals now waste over 6.6 billion hours on federal tax compliance activities each year. That’s equivalent to over three million people working full time, just to deal with tax compliance.

This is vividly illustrated by the fact that when the General Electric Co. filed the corporation’s tax return electronically, it required 24,000 pages to document. That’s right, 24,000 pages. In 2006, the Associated Press noted, “If GE had sent paper forms, the return would have stacked up eight feet high. Instead, it took up 237 megabytes” to file electronically.

Tom DeWeese -- Attack of the NGOs

Tom DeWeese -- Attack of the NGOs

by Tom DeWeese
June 14, 2011

One rarely hears of it. Few elected officials raise an eyebrow. The media makes no mention of it. But power is slowly slipping away from our elected representatives. In much the same way Mao Tse-tung had his Red Guards, so the UN has its NGOs They may well be your masters of tomorrow, and you don’t even know who or what they are.

Floridians for Immigration Enforcement (FLIMEN)

Florida is a peninsula surrounded by water on the East, South, and West and on the North by states with mandatory e-verify laws. It is expected as illegal aliens self-deport from the states banning modern day slavery they will migrate to Florida. Corrupt illegal employers like Alico, Inc, run by Senate Budget Chair JD Alexander, chosen by U.S. Senate hopeful Mike Haridopolos, will gladly welcome more illegal aliens to the nearly 1 million in the state currently. Illegal employers use to own them, with all the upkeep of housing and feeding, and now they only have to rent them.FlaFlag

Loathe to shed the slave employment mentality, the companies employing illegal aliens by their very actions spit and walk on the legal workers of Florida. Floridians are left to educate, medicate and incarcerate the illegal aliens who create the chaos and anarchy in the state currently costing Floridian taxpayers nearly $5.5 Billion annually and over $25 Billion in the last decade.

Floridians need to brace themselves for evermore illegal alien costs as Florida remains the job magnet in the south-east part of the United States. The figure of 1 million unemployed legal workers and over 600,000 employed illegal aliens will surely rise in both numbers.

Who is to blame? Look no further than the Florida State Legislature. Every state immigration law proposed has been blocked from passage for years with the Republicans in charge. Understand Democrats would do no better if in charge.

Begin with Senate President Mike Haridopolos. He promised there would be legislation dealing with mandatory e-verify and he delivered twice.

Morning Bell: Ten Questions for Leon Panetta

FoundryThe U.S. military is charged with protecting our homeland and defending America’s interests around the world, yet it is increasingly asked to do more with less. Given the President’s call for significant cuts to an already under-funded military, it is vitally important for the American people to know where Panetta stands on defense spending before he is confirmed. And it is up to the Senate to make sure those questions are asked.

CATO Analysts: U.S. Out of Libya, Out of NATO...

Nick Gillespie | June 6, 2011

Cato foreign policy analysts Chris Preble (pictured), Justin Logan, and Ben Friedman make a concise and convincing case that Europe doesn't really need the U.S. military around the way that it might have back in the day. They also point out that the U.S. military budget and mission is more plus-sized than William Howard Taft's bathtub, contributing to all sorts of screwups and snafus.

How Hollywood Uses TV To Brainwash Our Children

How Hollywood Uses TV To Brainwash Our Children

By Kathleen McKinley | June 02, 2011

That may sound like an overblown title, but if you read Ben Shapiro's new book, Primetime Propaganda, The True Hollywood Story Of How The Left Took Over Your  TV, you will see it isn't overblown in the least. Ben doesn't just speculate here. He goes to the source. He interviews the movers and the shakers of Hollywood who admit their own bias and their own agenda. You may have heard Ben's interview with Glenn Beck this morning. Glenn asked him how he got access to these big wigs. Ben said it was because of his last name (Jewish) and the fact that he went to Harvard. They just assumed he was "one of them." The few that did bother to google Ben, declined to be interviewed. So, this fascinating book takes us into the minds of the people who bring television into our home. They clearly state how they want to influence our kids with their political views.
