Private Property Rights and Socialism Do Not Mix

An urgent message to the National Association of Realtors

by

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) is the main stream organization in which nearly every real estate agent in the nation belongs as a means to keep up with the latest ideas and trends in the property selling industry. NAR’s members are the professionals that all of us look to for the best approach to buy and sell our homes. One of NAR’s mottos is “protecting the American dream of home ownership”. And they claim to protect property rights.

Would it then surprise you that NAR is a major promoter of a plan that actually results in the destruction of private property rights? NAR documents show the Association is working to advocate the policy of Smart Growth for local community development.

Urban planners promote Smart Growth policies because they adhere to the dogma that urban sprawl (development projects) are a danger to the environment, increasing pollution and housing costs, creating more driving time and shopping stress. In addition, say planners, such “urban sprawl” uses up more natural resources and reduces open space.

A Nation in Crisis

by Roger Field | 24 Jan 2015

As we begin the year of 2015 we find ourselves still living in constant crisis whether it be in international relations or circumstances here at home. Abroad we find ourselves unappreciated, disrespected and disliked more each passing day. At home we find ourselves evermore divided by issues of race, ethnicity and financial wellbeing all exacerbated by a rapidly deteriorating educational system and growing threats to our basic freedoms. It is difficult for anyone who is steeped in the history of this nation to accept the notion that we stand at the brink of losing all that made this the greatest country ever known to mankind. We can save it but the task grows more difficult the longer we wait to do what needs to be done.

We desperately need a strong leader in the White House who will lead us as we work to solve the many problems facing us. We need a Congress and Senate equally strong and dedicated to putting the nation back on the track set for us by the framers of the Constitution. We began the process in the 2014 elections but much more must be done. A new President will be elected in 2016. Our 45th President must be one who has the ability to bring us together, a person of honor, integrity and trustworthiness born of a lifetime of helping others. In my opinion such a man is Dr. Ben Carson, the retired legendary neurosurgeon.

A truly loving dedicated illiterate mother encouraged Ben and his brother to learn by insisting they read two books each per week as they were growing up in a Detroit black ghetto. Ben found Christ after a near tragedy involving a knife attack on a fellow black youth.  He soon rose academically to the top of his high school class and in less than a year in the JROTC rose to cadet commander and was offered an appointment to West Point. He rejected the appointment only because by then he had decided to go into medicine. As they say, the rest is history. His history as a neurosurgeon has become legend. He has authored several books which I suggest anyone interested in his leadership qualifications should read. Especially recommended are Gifted Hands, America the Beautiful, and One Nation.

There are many potential candidates lining up to enter the race for nomination especially in the GOP. Most of them have been in politics a number of years, long enough to have become obligated to powerful individuals and corporations who have supported them with campaign funding. They have become "political professionals" and, directly or indirectly, are emboldened to serve the interests of their elitist supporters, not all of which are in the best interests of "we the people".  Ben Carson has not become tainted with obligations to the political elitists, at least not yet and I pray he never does.

Hillary Clinton is said to be the leading Democrat candidate.  The baggage she is carrying is enough to sink the strongest of candidates, herself included. Still, with a huge portion of our society dependent on government handouts, any Democrat candidate who will promise them more of the same will be tough to beat at the polls. A huge majority of Blacks, Hispanics and other minorities voted for Obama in both of his runs for the office despite his lacking even the basic qualifications.  Polls are indicating Ben Carson would capture a significant number of those votes and most independents were he to be the nominee.

I firmly believe a Carson administration combined with a right thinking Congress would work hard to get us back on track both domestically and internationally.

Let’s see if culverts can regulate salinity

OUR INDIAN RIVER LAGOON

Let’s see if culverts can regulate salinity

Recent letters have merit in suggesting the use of culverts to help flush out the Indian River Lagoon between the inlets. Regulated culverts between the two main inlets would contribute additional flushing action along the entire lagoon.

Money from programs already in place such as Amendment 1 could be used to install a series of culverts to bring in seawater between the inlets. Consider the positive impact that additional seawater in the lagoon would have on sea grasses and marine species that use it for spawning grounds. The culverts could also be regulated to let in seawater as needed, with flow reduced when less salinity is required to offset the influx of polluted water.

If accomplished with planning, and a strong determination to make it work, this approach could become the norm rather than the exception. This could be applied not only to the Treasure Coast but also in numerous seaside communities nationwide where inland waterways are subject to pollution and degradation due to an influx of polluted or untreated fresh water.

After 50 years of trying to reduce the effects of damaging water in the lagoon, it’s time to try something new. Install one culvert and study the effects it has on the surrounding habitat. A test program would be worth the effort to see if this new and innovative approach has merit.

Florida Congressmen Join Joe Wilson's Fight Against Obama on Common Core

By: KEVIN DERBY | Posted: January 27, 2015

Conservatives in Congress are launching an effort pushing back against President Barack Obama on Common Core standards with members of the Florida delegation -- including Tom Rooney -- backing the effort.

U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson’s, R-S.C., “Local Control of Education Act” would stop the Obama administration from making states “adopt a specific curriculum, and would void any previous federal requirements established for states that have already adopted Common Core.” The Senate version is being backed by U.S. Sen. David Vitter, R-La.

Iran Nonsense

Iran Nonsense

VOL. 20, NO. 20 • BY STEPHEN F. HAYES

When House speaker John Boehner invited Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress in the coming weeks, the reaction from the White House was swift. In background interviews with reporters, top Obama administration officials made clear that they considered the invitation itself an affront and the acceptance of it a breach of protocol.

Please.

This is the same White House that last week had British prime minister David Cameron making calls to Capitol Hill to lobby lawmakers against more sanctions on Iran. It’s the same administration that had to apologize to Senator Marco Rubio and others for violating its pledge to “consult Congress” before making any unilateral changes to U.S. policy on Cuba. This is the same president who has boasted repeatedly of his ability and willingness to ignore the legislative branch and use his “pen and phone” to do what he wants. And this is the same administration that used the cover of anonymity to call Netanyahu “chickenshit” in a recent interview.

COMMUNISM IS ALIVE AND WELL - YOUR FREEDOMS SET TO EXPIRE SOON

COMMUNISM IS ALIVE AND WELL - YOUR FREEDOMS SET TO EXPIRE SOON

By Charlotte Iserbyt

Communism is alive and well in education restructuring in America. The Reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), due for Congressional Hearings in March 2015, is the last nail in America's coffin. This bill, the ESEA Re-authorization, will affect YOU – Every American taxpayer! Every American who owns private property!

The ESEA is proof positive that COMMUNISM IS NOT DEAD! As Mark Twain once said, "The reports of my death are greatly exaggerated." Similarly, any time you hear reports that Communism is dead, don't believe them!

Read Anita Hoge's analysis of the Re-authorization of the ESEA, known as Every Child Ready for College or Career Act of 2015 sponsored by Sen. Lamar Alexander. This bill amends No Child Left Behind which is the Re-authorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 referred to as ESEA.

Eagle Forum: Legislatures Should Curb Judicial Supremacy Over Marriage

Legislatures Should Curb Judicial Supremacy Over Marriage

by Phyllis Schlafly

January 21, 2015

It’s Roe v. Wade all over again, as the Supreme Court is poised to invent a new right to same-sex marriage found nowhere in the four corners of the Constitution. Fortunately, the Founders gave us checks and balances against this overreaching in power.

The Framers understood the tendency of a branch of government to expand, and they empowered both Congress and the States with the legislative tools necessary to avert the encroachment. A branch of government will transgress its boundaries until the other branches exercise their authority to restrain the breach.

The Daily Signal: The New Sneaky Tactic Gun Control Advocates Are Embracing

The New Sneaky Tactic Gun Control Advocates Are Embracing

Genevieve Wood /  /

Gun control advocates are changing strategy.

If you can’t get legislation infringing upon the Second Amendment with President Obama sitting in the White House and Harry Reid, D-Nev., running the Senate, the chances of getting much done under the new Republican-controlled Congress are next to nil.

Add to that the fact that the majority of pro-gun control candidates who ran in the 2014 mid-term elections, including Rep. Ron Barber, D-Ariz., who was one wounded in the 2011 incident involving the shooting of then Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, lost.

So, taking a page from the same-sex marriage movement, gun control advocates are now embracing this strategy: What you can’t get done at the federal level, try to get done state by state.

Florida GOP Could Elect Chairman “Reminiscent” Of Jim Greer?

Posted by:  on January 14, 2015

The Republican Party of Florida is poised to elect a new chairman at its annual meeting in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, January 17.

Depending on who you ask, each candidate in the race will tell you that he or she has enough support to garner the necessary votes to win the chairman’s election.

Let’s just say that there has been a fair amount of brown-nosing being done by the “Fab Four,” who are all out pressing the flesh, and burning up the phone lines in hopes to turn out enough committeemen and women to support their respective candidacies

Thus far, the race between the four candidates, who look to lead the state GOP for the next two years-Chairwoman Leslie Dougher, Eric Miller, Kurt Kelly, and Vice Chairman Blaise Ingoglia- has been quiet and uneventful, that is until now.

"The Patriot is a Scarce Man"

"The Patriot is a Scarce Man"

By: Joe Koss | January 6th, 2015

As he approached the podium during the first moments of the 114th Congress of the United States of America, Congressman Jim Bridentstine (R-OK) did so with more eyes on him than he has probably ever had while on the floor of the House.

Many were watching because four days ago he did something people in his position rarely do – he chose to act out of conviction and principle, rather than self-preservation or professional prosperity.

In November, as Bridenstine noted in his release a few days ago, “Republicans won the largest Majority in the House of Representatives in 100 years,” and yet little more than a month later, GOP leadership – specifically House Speaker John Boehner – teamed up with President Obama to advance and pass the CROmnibus spending budget. In the eyes of Bridenstine, and in that of thousands of Americans who flooded Congress’ phones this week, that was a step too far.

Deace: The Day the Music Died

Deace: The Day the Music Died

By: Steve Deace

January 7th, 2015

This is the worst column I've ever had to write, because it's about Jody Hice.

A man I thought I knew. A man I had high hopes for. A man of God. An actual Southern Baptist pastor who graduated from the same seminary as my wife--Luther Rice Seminary in Atlanta, Georgia.

See, he's only been a congressman for about 15 minutes, but it appears we've already lost him to the system. And on his first official vote, no less. That sure didn't take long. Maybe that's a record or something. Sadly, he's going to share it with several others.

Hice was one of several freshmen Republicans who despite pledging not to do so, voted to re-elect John Boehner, perhaps the best Speaker of the House the Democrats have ever had. The same John Boehner who has gone out of his way to punish conservatives and push through the Obama agenda, even to the point of repeatedly passing legislation through his chamber a majority of the majority Republicans oppose. The same John Boehner a super majority of Republicans nationwide just said in a recent poll they opposed as Speaker.

NATIONAL AFFAIRS: Building a Real Reform Mandate

Building a Real Reform Mandate

MICHAEL A. NEEDHAM | FROM ISSUE NUMBER 22 ~ WINTER 2015

The last four years in Washington have been defined by intense friction between the Tea Party grassroots and the so-called Republican establishment. From the fiscal cliff to the debate over defunding Obamacare to high-tension votes on the farm bill and transportation reauthorization, Republican leaders in Congress and the Tea Party have rarely seemed to be on the same page and have often fought openly in full view of the public.

To many reform-minded observers eager to help the Republican Party build a mandate for a conservative governing agenda, this discord appears pointless and counterproductive, undermining Republican efforts to project the steadiness needed to govern while accomplishing little to improve the likelihood of future conservative policy victories. The hostility inherent in such debates is exacerbated by a sense held by many of the well-intentioned participants that the motives of the Tea Party have been mysterious at best and nihilistic at worst. They worry that the Tea Party has no strategic or tactical vision. They see the Tea Party as an obstacle to reform rather than a partner.

From the perspective of the conservative grassroots and affiliated organizations, however, the friction of the last several years has been anything but pointless. It is a result of deep and irreconcilable disagreements between activist reformers and the Washington establishment over both the means conservatives should employ and the ends they should pursue. At its core, it is a dispute over how much the center-right should aim to disrupt the political status quo. Those eager to shake up the stale agenda of the Republican Party do their cause no service by standing on the sidelines or opposing the Tea Party's efforts; in this fight, reformers of all stripes must hope the Tea Party wins.

As the country turns its attention to the 2016 campaign, the 114th Congress cannot afford to squander the opportunity to present the country with a governing vision of its own. If the party hopes to win a mandate in 2017, it must begin the new Congress with bold congressional action. Given its influence in Congress, the Tea Party is sure to shape the nature of such action. The cause of reform therefore would be well served by a candid conversation regarding what it is that the Tea Party is aiming to accomplish — and how.

POLL: REPUBLICAN VOTERS OVERWHELMINGLY WANT MEMBERS TO REMOVE BOEHNER AS SPEAKER

POLL: REPUBLICAN VOTERS OVERWHELMINGLY WANT MEMBERS TO REMOVE BOEHNER AS SPEAKER

breitbart

by MATTHEW BOYLE2 Jan 2015

Republican voters nationwide overwhelmingly want their House representative to elect somebody other than Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) as Speaker of the House, a new poll from Pat Caddell’s organization Caddell Associates shows.

A whopping 60 percent of voters who voted for Republicans in the last election either definitely or probably want their member of Congress to elect someone other than Boehner on Jan. 6, when Congress convenes, according to the poll. The voters were asked: “As you may know the new Congress will select its leaders in January. If it were up to you, would you elect John Boehner to continue as Speaker of the House or would you elect someone new?”

In response to that question, 34 percent of the GOP voters surveyed said they definitely want someone other than Boehner and 26 percent said they probably want someone other than Boehner. Only 11 percent said they definitely want to keep Boehner and an additional 15 percent said they probably want Boehner to stay. So the poll says some 60 percent of GOP voters want Boehner gone, while just 25 percent want him to stay. Fifteen percent in the poll either don’t know, or are undecided on Boehner’s future.

In addition to that condemnation of Boehner, 64 percent of the GOP voters surveyed either strongly or somewhat agree that Boehner, as Speaker of the House, has been “ineffective in opposing President Obama’s agenda.” Only 24 percent either somewhat or strongly disagree. Twelve percent didn’t know.

When asked if they “trust” Boehner to “fight for the issues that are important to most Republicans,” barely more than half of the GOP voters surveyed said they did. Fifty-two percent said they either strongly or somewhat agree that Boehner will fight for Republican issues while 37 percent either disagree Boehner will fight for Republican issues or strongly disagree. Ten percent didn’t know.

When asked if Boehner “has the best interests of the American public at heart, rather than special interests,” less than half of the GOP voters answered in the affirmative. Forty-four percent said they either somewhat or strongly agree Boehner will stand up against special interests for the American public, while 43 percent believe Boehner won’t help Americans over the general public.
