Big Business Privilege is Poisoning American Free Enterprise #tcot

The Tea Party rebellion is about many things – Obamacare, the failure of the establishment Republican Party to deliver the conservative government it promised during the Bush years... But perhaps most importantly, it is a rebellion against the culture of privilege which now poisons American politics and business.

Nowhere was the pernicious effect of this culture of privilege more poisonous – and obvious – than in the Wall Street/Washington Axis that led the lobbying effort behind the bailouts of 2008 and 2009.

In the name of preventing a meltdown of the economy, politicians began picking winners and losers in the market and trillions of taxpayer dollars were spent to bailout banks, brokerage houses and automobile companies -- and to subsidize others to create “green” jobs or pursue other non-economic political goals.

As a result, the favored companies prospered, while those with less influence foundered and were acquired by those with better balance sheets, and better lobbyists.

DC Consultants Stealing the Soul of the GOP #tcot

It says a lot about the caliber of advice Mitt Romney is getting that in the midst of the worst economy since the Great Depression of the 1930s, he can do no better than tie President Barack Obama in most national polls.

The same goes for Republican congressional candidates -- especially those for the Senate -- which under the leadership of Democrat Harry Reid hasn’t passed a budget in over three years.

A big part of the problem is, in a word, consultants. Especially the small coterie of Washington, DC based insiders that have come to dominate Republican political strategy and ad making over the past decade.

To most of these highly paid political “strategists,” the campaigns of Ronald Reagan are a grade school memory. Growing-up in the rarified atmosphere of Capitol Hill, where most of them got their start in politics, they know only one way of winning: raise a lot of money from special interests and buy a lot of negative ads on TV... and earn themselves millions in ad placement commissions in the process.

And most importantly, don’t run as a conservative or take any socially conservative positions that might be at odds with those of the urban elites who dominate the mainstream media.

The Hill: Compromise 2012 farm bill plows rift into House Dem lawmakers #tcot

Liberal Democrats are fuming over $16 billion in cuts to food stamp programs included in the House farm bill set for a markup on Wednesday.

Rep. Collin Peterson (Minn.), the top Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee, agreed to the cuts as a pragmatic way of moving forward with legislation important to rural lawmakers.

In an interview with The Hill, he said much of the cuts would be restored in a conference with the Senate.

Yet the move has led to anger on the left, while raising questions over whether the farm bill can pass the House given opposition among Republican and Democratic lawmakers.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro (Conn.) issued a scathing statement after the bill’s release that called it immoral and inhumane.

“This bill increases subsidies to millionaires. This is a bill that robs the poor to pay the rich,” she told the Hill Friday. “This bill is an outrage.”

DeLauro said she is urging Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and other Democratic leaders to oppose the bill.

In their ruling of the Arizona Immigration laws, the Supreme Court declared the“discretion of the federal agents” to be sovereign over the states. In the ruling on the Affordable Healthcare Act, the Supreme Court declared the federal government to be sovereign over the citizens. These rulings have served a nearly fatal blow to the 9^th and 10^th Amendments of the Constitution. Now, more so than ever, or at least since 1830, the citizens of this nation must stand together in defense of the Constitution, as the ultimate protectors of our God given rights.

Our founders did not make the federal government sovereign over the people or the states. The 9^th Amendment makes it perfectly clear that all rights belong to the people, enumerated or not. The 10^thAmendment makes it clear that aside from the power “delegated” to the federal government, EVERYTHING ELSE belongs to the people through their states. And the Federal government was only delegated very limited powers. James Madison said those powers were limited primarily to external objects and named them specifically as war, peace, foreign commerce and negotiations. What that means for us, is that the federal government has no business what so ever in our health care, or in our businesses, our schools, or any other aspect of daily life, whatsoever!
