Disaster Preparedness: Hurricane

When a hurricane hits, winds in excess of 155 miles per hour can cause catastrophic damage. Emergency kits are an important piece of hurricane disaster preparedness.

What will your family will do if you happen to lie in the disaster path of a hurricane? Many victims of Hurricane Katrina remained in New Orleans without water, food or shelter days after the storm itself had passed. Government response time to the disaster was hindered by political processes and access to the region. You can be better prepared to survive a hurricane and other natural disasters by simply having on hand emergency kits from sources such as FoodInsurance.com.

If you live along the Atlantic coastline or the Gulf of Mexico costal areas — or up to several hundred miles inland, your disaster preparedness plan should take the threat of hurricanes and tropical storms very seriously. Parts of the Southwest U.S. and the Pacific Coast experience heavy rains and floods each year from hurricanes in Mexico.

Tom DeWeese -- Keep Your Political Agenda Off My Plate

DeWeese_com_hdrAs I’ve reported many times, Sustainable Development affects every aspect of our lives. Yet Americans continue to think of it as simply harmless, helpful environmental conservation. In reality Sustainable Development is a radical political agenda designed to control and change our society to fit into a top-down global governance structure.

Here are two quick examples of Sustainable policy and propaganda that have dire effects on us all.

Item: Vegetarianism is a major tenant of Sustainable Development. Agenda 21 focuses on the goal to eliminate the consumption of meat and to instead use the fields to grow wheat and soy for human consumption. Again, freedom of choice is not part of Sustainable Development. To get us to comply...

Preserving American Sovereignty

Friends:livepreview4

There are several factors that contribute to the destruction of the farmer, small manufacturer and the middle class, and they are:
* the current tax code,
* the EX-IM Bank,
* the Department of Agriculture and
* the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), just to name a few.

In the process, American individualism, independence and freedom are being destroyed by global corporate-government "partnerships."  Remember Eisenhower's warning of the "military industrial complex”?  Goldwater expanded on that in his 1979 book, “WITH NO APOLOGIES,” by repeating the warnings of countless others.  From page 284 of his book, Goldwater writes, "In my view, the Trilateral Commission represents a skillful, co-ordinated effort to seize control and consolidate the four centers of power -- political, monetary, intellectual and ecclesiastical."

Glenn Beck is exposing, and Tea Parties are now fighting, this global elite with its intricate power structure and its "comprehensive plan" for the entire world.  Just one example is the Rio 1992 conference which introduced the USA and the world to Agenda 21 (aka Sustainable Development).

In 1991 the Trilateral Commission (TLC) published their report titled, “Beyond Interdependence--The Meshing of the World's Economy and the Earth's Ecology.”  Beck talked about this book on his radio show and it is available as a transcript.  It was a requested "plan" for all the world's attendee's of the 92 Rio Conference and what they should consider adopting. They did, and we are living that "plan."

Both of those books are still available online and are cheap.  Goldwater's book can be had for a penny and it is worth many times the price.  The TLC book is about 2 bucks and both are great ways to show skeptics that "global planning" is for real.

HERE is a good column by Derry Brownfield. His warnings predate Goldwater's.  Check his bio. There are hundreds more out there with the same or similar bio and the same warning.  They are on the radio and on the internet, and they are "us".

George F. Will - Our puritanical progressives

George F. Will - Our puritanical progressives

An eminent Harvard law professor, James Thayer (1831-1902), argued that although the judicial function is "merely that of fixing the outside border of reasonable legislative action," this still gives courts "a great and stately jurisdiction." While patrolling that jurisdiction today, Supreme Court justices may be playing the video game "Postal 2," whose rich menu of simulated mayhem provoked California's legislature to pass a problematic law.

During the oral argument about whether the law restricting children's access to violent video games violates First Amendment guarantees of free expression, the lawyer representing game manufacturers urged the court to remember America's history of moral panics, which he said included one in the early 1950s about comic books. Really? Yes, and the episode remains instructive.

» Who Benefits? The Food Safety Bill Will Centralize and Regulate Food Production NoisyRoom.net: The Progressive Hunter

The Food Safety Bill (S. 510) is being heralded as more dangerous than even the Health Care Reform which passed earlier this year. Section 404 makes it clear that the bill seeks to conform to the requirements of the World Trade Organization and grants new authority to the Department of Homeland Security to oversee food production. Here’s the key catchphrase from the proponents of this bill, responding to criticisms that the bill will cripple small-time farmers.

S. 510 - Summary: FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (GovTrack.us)

S. 510 - Summary: FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (GovTrack.us)

This reference to "frontier" areas reveals that this language was developed in Europe. Has anyone heard of this term outside of Europe?

In one of my training classes, we were trained in mapping by a company from the Netherlands. After the first day, I asked, "What the hell is a 'frontier'?" The reference in the training material was to the border areas between European counties (This was before the European Union).

Is anyone else creeped out by this?

Audubon asks state to bar Indian Street Bridge on 'conservation' land

By George Andreassi
Treasure Coast Newspapers

STUART —
Audubon of Martin County wants the Florida Communities Trust Governing Board to stop the Indian Street Bridge from being built across an unspoiled peninsula in the St. Lucie River.

The six-member board, which includes former Indian River County Commissioner Ruth Stanbridge, is set to review Audubon of Martin County’s request during a meeting starting at 2 p.m. Thursday in Tallahassee.

The FCT board could create a major stumbling block for the highly anticipated project if it rules the peninsula cannot be used for the bridge supports needed to traverse the St. Lucie River between Indian Street in Stuart and 36th Street in Palm City. The FCT board has already forced the realignment of the Green River Parkway to avoid land purchased for conservation with state assistance.

The Presidency and the Constitution

October 2010

Mike Pence
U.S. Representative
Indiana’s Sixth Congressional District

The following is adapted from a speech delivered on the Hillsdale College campus on September 20, 2010.

Reprinted by permission from Imprimis, a publication of Hillsdale College.

THE PRESIDENCY is the most visible thread that runs through the tapestry of the American government. More often than not, for good or for ill, it sets the tone for the other branches and spurs the expectations of the people. Its powers are vast and consequential, its requirements impossible for mortals to fulfill without humility and insistent attention to its purpose as set forth in the Constitution of the United States.

Isn’t it amazing, given the great and momentous nature of the office, that those who seek it seldom pause to consider what they are seeking? Rather, unconstrained by principle or reflection, there is a mad rush toward something that, once its powers are seized, the new president can wield as an instrument with which to transform the nation and the people according to his highest aspirations.

But, other than in a crisis of the house divided, the presidency is neither fit nor intended to be such an instrument. When it is made that, the country sustains a wound, and cries out justly and indignantly. And what the nation says is the theme of this address. What it says—informed by its long history, impelled by the laws of nature and nature’s God—is that we as a people are not to be ruled and not to be commanded. It says that the president should never forget this; that he has not risen above us, but is merely one of us, chosen by ballot, dismissed after his term, tasked not to transform and work his will upon us, but to bear the weight of decision and to carry out faithfully the design laid down in the Constitution in accordance with the Declaration of Independence.

Read the entire essay.  (This is amazing. Jim M.)

Anyone familiar with this Smart Growth - HUD-DOT-EPA  website?
http://www.epa.gov/dced/partnership/index.html

Background

On June 16, 2009, EPA joined with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT) to help improve access to affordable housing, more transportation options, and lower transportation costs while protecting the environment in communities nationwide. Through a set of guiding livability principles and a partnership agreement that will guide the agencies' efforts, this partnership will coordinate federal housing, transportation, and other infrastructure investments to protect the environment, promote equitable development, and help to address the challenges of climate change.

Livability Principles

  • Provide more transportation choices. Develop safe, reliable, and economical transportation choices to decrease household transportation costs, reduce our nation's dependence on foreign oil, improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and promote public health.

Top 2012 Senate Democrat Targets

Sunday, 07 Nov 2010 03:35 PM

By Dick Morris

It took the Democrats two election cycles -- 2006 and 2008 -- to secure their overwhelming Congressional majorities and to recapture the White House. The Republican Party will likely complete its takeover in 2012. This model is far more likely than the 1995-96 model in which Bill Clinton came back from the dead.

In the Senate, there are many attractive targets for Republican attack, Senators who come from states where the GOP scored significant gains in the 2010 elections. They include:
