DISTRICT ANNOUNCES PLANS TO PURCHASE NEW ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING

DISTRICT ANNOUNCES PLANS TO PURCHASE NEW ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING

 .
The Martin County School District announced plans to purchase a new administrative facility this afternoon at a location that will be familiar to many in the Martin County community.
 .
On March 26, 2019, the Martin County School Board will vote on whether or not to approve a $7.5 million contract with Gannett Co., Inc. to purchase the TCPalm/ Stuart News Building, located at 1939 SE Federal Highway in Stuart. If approved, the school district would move its current administrative offices located at 500 E. Ocean Blvd. and 1050 E. 10th St. to the Stuart News building.
 .
“The location of our administrative offices has been a pressing concern that has greatly impacted the orderly operations of the District,” said Christia Li Roberts, School Board Chair. “While the School Board had previously approved and set aside funding for the building of an administrative office, we put this process on hold to find a solution for the replacement of our two aging elementary schools.
 .
Martin County voters generously approved a half-cent sales tax increase to expedite the replacement of these schools. The purchase price for the property is $7.5 million, and if approved by the Board, staff would move into the building before the start of the 2019-2020 school year.”
 .
“This is a very exciting time in the Martin County School District,” Superintendent Laurie J. Gaylord said. “The opportunity to have all of our district level employees working under the same roof will help us streamline communication, collaboration and operational efficiency. This is something that has been long overdue, and I’m thrilled to see what the future will hold for our district.”
 .
The public notice advertising the March 26 School Board meeting, which will include the Board’s consideration of the contract for building purchase, will be published in the TC Palm/Stuart News on February 23, 2019.
