Marco Rubio must go
By Charles Winn | July 5, 2013 | The Sun Sentinel
During his tenure, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio has shown himself to be dangerously short-sighted, if not patently incompetent on the most salient issues that impact our economic and national security.
If amnesty for illegals ever becomes law, it will encourage millions more to illegally enter our country, and depress wages in even more industries that have not already displaced U.S. citizens with cheap labor. It will also generate untold billions of dollars in costs for taxpayer-funded benefits and services that are not affordable.
Sen. Rubio fails to recognize that the foundation of a strong national security posture is a strong economy in which a large and growing middle class can flourish. Additionally, the weak border security provisions of his bill will do little to impede easy access for our transnational terrorist enemies who seek to come here to cause us harm.
Sen. Rubio's support for amnesty as well as his call forU.S. military intervention is Syria pose a serious threat to our vital national interests. This is similar to his enthusiastic cheerleading of the administration's unconstitutional military intervention in Libya in 2011. The outcome was an unstable successor regime where terrorist jihadist elements now flourish, and that culminated in Benghazi. The senator's call for intervention in Syria will only produce a similar environment and more threats to our security.
Great leaders learn from their mistakes while fools only repeat them. Sen. Rubio has proven himself unfit to lead and must be replaced.
