NWV: COMMON CORE, STATE STANDARDS: YOU'RE LETTING GLOBALISTS BRAINWASH YOUR KIDS

COMMON CORE, STATE STANDARDS: YOU'RE LETTING GLOBALISTS BRAINWASH YOUR KIDS

"Ideally, what should be said to every child, repeatedly, throughout his or her school life is something like this: 'You are in the process of being indoctrinated. We have not yet evolved a system of education that is not a system of indoctrination. We are sorry, but it is the best we can do. What you are being taught here is an amalgam of current prejudice and the choices of this particular culture. The slightest look at history will show how impermanent these must be. You are being taught by people who have been able to accommodate themselves to a regime of thought laid down by their predecessors. It is a self-perpetuating system. Those of you who are more robust and individual than others will be encouraged to leave and find ways of educating yourself — educating your own judgments. Those that stay must remember, always, and all the time, that they are being molded and patterned to fit into the narrow and particular needs of this particular society." Doris Lessing, from 'The Golden Notebook'

Unfortunately, the current self-perpetuating system in America and even in most Westernized countries, is liberalism, which is just another form of collective socialism. It is a flawed, bankrupt system that emphasizes the collective and de-emphasizes the individual, the former being the very antithesis of the foundation of American freedom. Becoming an educator is a process of being indoctrinated by the current self-perpetuating system, liberalism.

Out of the almost 4,500 Title IV eligible colleges in America, 2,774 are 4-year colleges and 1,721 are 2-year institutions. We can say with considerable confidence that well more than 90% of these 2 and 4-year colleges have embedded in their curriculums, a full-fledged liberal agenda. Some of it is subtle, some of it is bold faced. Consequently, any person who decides to become an educator in the public school system or the colleges will have absorbed an entire liberal bias by the time they finish four years. As a glaring example of this fact, we have a conservative friend whose three children went through college and all three came out liberals.

Almost every single person who gets a college education today will have been converted from whatever they were to a liberal mindset. Only individual thinkers are immune. Consequently, virtually all government employees, including the teachers that teach your children, will approach every task they take on from that perspective, government or private.

Do You Know What They're Teaching In Your Child's School?

Excerpted from Townhall Magazine's August cover story, "Understanding the Common Core," by Marybeth Hicks:

magazinePerhaps you heard some encouraging news about something called the Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI), a project of the National Governor’s Association Center for Best Practices (NGA) and the Council of Chief State School Offi cers (CCSSO). (American education is a veritable smorgasbord of initialisms. Sorry.)

Launched in 2009 and completed in 2010, the CCSSI is meant to nationalize the academic expectations for America’s high school graduates in every state that adopts them.

According to commoncorestandards.org, the goal of CCSSI is lofty, indeed:

“The Common Core State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, refl ecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global economy.”

The name of the game is “college and career ready”—a phrase that Barack Obama and Secretary of Education Arne Duncan repeat so often they must now utter it in their sleep. The problem, of course, is that like most progressive platitudes, this doesn’t really mean anything, even though CCSSI has been “validated” by a committee of education experts and adopted by more than half of the country—45 states and D.C., to be exact. (If you guessed that Texas and Alaska are among the five that have not, give yourself a gold star.) ...

If you have ever wondered why your high schooler was assigned to read Barbara Ehrenreich’s anti-capitalist screed “Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America” for a high school economics class; or why your middle schooler’s math book includes story problems about sweatshops and unfair labor practices, or why your first grader was shown the anti-capitalist video “The Story of Stuff ” to learn about the evils of American consumerism, wonder no more.

Our children’s educational curriculum has been hijacked by the Left. And those “top-down,” unsubstantial Common Core standards won’t stop them.

So what does this curriculum look like? Glad you asked!

Literally millions of middle school and high school students are taught the late Howard Zinn’s socialist version of American history, “A People’s History of the United States.” Though the book came out in 1980, it continues to gain credibility and popularity—for example, if you peruse course syllabi online, you’ll see it’s used in many AP U.S. History classes today, probably in part because it’s listed as a resource for teachers to consider at College Board’s (hey, sound familiar?!) AP Central website. And thanks to Hollywood leftists such as Matt Damon, who spearheaded a 2009 video version of the book for PBS, “A People’s History” has developed an even wider popular audience.

Zinn encouraged teachers to “reexamine the premises” on which they taught social studies and history—and to give them up and embrace the realization that American history is best explained by class and race conflict. It will not come as a surprise that “Rethinking Columbus” is based on Zinn’s retelling of the European “invasion” of North America from the perspective of the Arawak Indians, as he did in “A People’s History:”

“These Arawaks of the Bahama Islands were much like Indians on the mainland, who were remarkable (European observers were to say again and again) for their hospitality, their belief in sharing. These traits did not stand out in the Europe of the Renaissance, dominated as it was by the religion of popes, the government of kings, the frenzy for money that marked Western civilization and its first messenger to the Americas, Christopher Columbus.”

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Social justice revisionist history” is bad, but not new. But what if I were to tell you about “social justice math?” Nope. It’s not a joke.

HOW YOUR LOCAL OFFICIALS ARE USING STEALTH TO IMPLEMENT AGENDA 21 and ICLEI - PART 2

By Kathleen Marquardt and Tommy Helms

NewsWithViews.com

How your local officials are using stealth to put Agenda 21 and ICLEI into every city, town and county in America.

A massive campaign must be launched to de-develop the United States. De-development means bringing our economic system into line with the realities of ecology and the world resource situation. —Paul Ehrlich, Professor of Population Studies

In our previous article, How your local officials are using stealth to implement Agenda 21 & ICLEI, we showed how Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and former mayor and now Tennessee Governor, Bill Haslam are embedding Agenda 21 into Knoxville and the state while pretending they never heard of Agenda 21. From that article you might not have realized the depth of their duplicity or the full extent of the embedding of Agenda 21. Here we will show that there is no wiggle room on the issue, they are both proponents, and implementers, of the globalist plan to surreptitiously land and our liberty.

The Mayor

Metropulse article, “Mayor Rogero interviewed by Smart Growth America,” says:

“Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero, a member of the Advisory Board of Smart Growth America’s Local Leaders Council, says the city has focused on “strong, safe neighborhoods; living green and working green; an energized downtown and job creation and retention” during her time in office. The approach is bringing new businesses and residents to downtown Knoxville.”

So Rogero is not just pro-Smart Growth, she is on the Advisory Board of the Local Leaders Council and she did not get there overnight; she had to have known and understood what Smart Growth was for some years.

World Future 2013 - Part 2: Future-plex Mindset in a Hyper-complex World

by Debra Rae

Over the course of two and a half days, starting July 19, some 900 futurists are expected to gather at the Chicago Hilton for the World Future Society’s 2013 convention. With a view toward the 22nd century, visionaries will explore humanity’s “next horizon.” More than sixty sessions, workshops, and special events will feature future studies, as well as reports of progress toward achieving a coveted, one-world order. Eager attendees will enjoy a series of compelling presentations aimed at modeling and, then, forecasting (toward implementing) preferred scenarios deemed suitable for turn of the next century.

All bases will be covered—geopolitical, socio-economic, and religious. Former Danish ambassador and adjunct professor Joergen Oerstroem Moeller will flesh out an appropriate geopolitical model—one that manages “big data,” transcends economic obsession with the social justice model, and pulls anchor out from under the presumed-to-be defunct nation-states paradigm. Stephen Aguilar-Millan will address the provocative question, “Will We Still Have Money in 2100?” With a religious mandate to save Gaia-Mother Earth,[i] science fiction writer Brenda Cooper will call participants to “step backwards into Eden” and take personal responsibility for “gardening the world” by attending to climate change, finite fossil fuels, disappearing forests, dwindling fish and freshwater supplies.

·      Future-proof Mindset (Human Choice)
Since forecasting can succumb to outcomes that are “self-fulfilling,” “self-negating,” or “judgmental,” W.F.S. prognosticators hold that future events are determined by human choices, not external forces.[ii] Case in point, chief executive officer of the Jefferson Area Board for Aging, Marta M. Keane will explore how technology increasingly supports human choices to live longer, better, and more independent lives.

Israeli director of the Center for Strategic Futurist Thinking Tsvi Bisk will address a broad range of venturesome forecasts—e.g., food production via vertical urban agriculture; recycling carbon dioxide via artificial photosynthesis; enabling energy autonomy via nanotechnology; and converting human waste, garbage, and trash to gas via depolymerization units. His progressive mindset is promisingly future-proof.

·      Future-plex Mindset (Augmented Human Intelligence)
Drawing from his forthcoming book, The Naked Future: What Happens in a World That Anticipates Your Every Move? Patrick Tucker will address the dangerous future of humanity’s greatest would- be “invention,” the future itself.[iii]

Biblically speaking, humans have been granted the power “to will.” Nevertheless, exercising a future-proof mindset cannot “will” the future into existence, as visionaries would have us believe.[iv] Doing so requires more than mere human will and choice.[v] Rather than acknowledge need for God, however, prognosticators elect instead to surpass a “future-proof” mindset with an intelligence-augmented, “future-plex“ one.[vi]

World Future 2013 - Part 1: The Next Horizon

by Debra Rae

From April to October of 1962, some ten million people visited the Seattle World’s Fair, popularly known as Century 21 and officially opened by President John F. Kennedy. With construction of the Space Needle, the Coliseum, Science Pavilion, monorail, and other architectural feats that imparted a glimpse into the future, Seattle was said to have entered the 21st century thirty-eight years ahead of schedule.[i]

Trans-Federal Futuring at its Finest
Yet again, over the course of two and a half days, some 900 futurists are expected to gather in Chicago for more than sixty sessions, workshops, and special events featuring world future studies, coupled with reports of progress toward achieving a coveted, one-world order.

Starting July 19, the World Future Society 2013 will convene at the Hilton Chicago to explore humanity’s “next horizon”—this, under the watchful eye of the mainstream media. The New York Times, Chicago Tribune, USA Today, and Washington Post will join MS-NBC and CBC to cover this annual convention.

With an eye to the 22nd century, politicians, scientists, and laypeople alike will dialogue on what the planet’s future holds. At Chicago’s World’s Fair of Ideas (Century 22), deemed-to-be-premier minds will collectively map out the future of science and technology, humanity and religion, economics and global governance.

Sponsored by the Gorbachev Foundation, and called for in the Club of Rome’s 1972 book, Limits to Growth, the 1995 World Forum first used the term “global governance” instead of “New World Order.” The latter was considered too emotionally charged and, therefore, not likely to be as well received. Limits to Growth likewise called for a sort of clearinghouse for all global conglomerates—enter, the World Future Society merging together political, spiritual, and economic aspects of one-world government.[ii]

The World Future Society: Century 22
Situated in Baltimore, the World Future Society engages global advisors consisting of directors, professors, scientists, analysts, and authors from observatories, polytechnic institutes, universities, foundations, and corporations. Institutional members likewise represent foundations (Baha’i World Centre Library, for one), business firms (Pacific Foods of Oregon), studies (the Millennium Project), educational institutions (high schools, community colleges, universities, graduate schools of law, business, medicine, and emergency services), government agencies (immigration, transportation, military, natural resources), and even the U.S. Secret Service!

Previous attendees at the World Future Society's annual conference have been Gerald Ford, Al Gore Jr., Sen. Edward Kennedy, Betty Friedan, and scientist-inventor Ray Kurzweil, to name but a few. This year, World Future 2013 will feature MIT Media Lab founder Nicholas Negroponte, visionary author Ramez Naam, Ford futurist Sheryl Connelly, and geo-security expert John Watts. Among visionaries expected to attend will be corporate planners, business leaders, government officials, scientists, doctors, and forecasters from all over the world.[iii]

Eagle Forum: Lies about Trade Agreements #tcot

Lies about Trade Agreements

by Phyllis SchlaflyJuly 24, 2013
When will Republicans wake up to the way U.S. jobs are betrayed by Barack Obama and the corporate interests that hide under the moniker “free trade”? It’s an embarrassment that Republican powers-that-be have joined with the Obama Democrats to push the new Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement.

We should have recognized free trade as bad news when Obama hammered on it in his State of the Union message. He probably looks upon it as another strategy to redistribute the wealth of our country, which is a major goal of his administration.

In 2012 when Congress was passing the Korea-U.S. Trade Agreement (KORUS), Obama predicted that it would create 70,000 U.S. jobs for Americans who would then pay taxes and not need food stamps. He even predicted that “soon, there will be new cars on the streets of Seoul imported from Detroit.”
The bad effect was immediate. In the first year after KORUS took effect, the U.S. trade deficit with South Korea increased by $5.8 billion, costing 40,000 jobs, mostly in manufacturing, according to the Economic Policy Institute.

KORUS was really good in creating jobs in Korea but caused a big loss of American jobs. While the U.S. trade deficit with the world increased 21 percent, our trade deficit with Korea jumped 81 percent.
We’re still waiting to see Detroit-made cars on the streets of Seoul. With that experience, it makes no sense for our trade negotiators to expand and imitate the KORUS model.

Remember NAFTA? The year before NAFTA, the U.S. ran a $1.6 billion trade surplus with Mexico. Last year, the U.S. ran a $64 billion deficit.

Defending American Principles Is Now a Revolutionary Act #tcot

Defending American Principles Is Now a Revolutionary Act

Kurt Schlichter | Jul 22, 2013 police

The liberal elite is still in shock that six Americans resisted the relentless pressure of its hack politicians, slavering mainstream media mediocrities and progressive hustlers in order to acquit George Zimmerman. Consciously or not, the jurors’ verdict was an act of rebellion against the progressives who wants to jettison our most sacred principles.

The case was a joke, but you wouldn’t know that if you only listened to the mainstream media. The media’s rank speculation, mischaracterization of the evidence and outright lies were designed to replace the strict adherence to law and the rules of evidence that for a thousand years have protected the accused from the mindless fury of the mob.

Progressives needed Zimmerman to be guilty, so when mere facts and laws got in the way of the predetermined narrative they could be dispensed with. Luckily, no one told the jury they were not supposed to take seriously all that stuff about the State having to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.

But the undermining of the rule of law in criminal cases is just one component of their insidious strategy. The elite and their slobbering minions are growing more and more frustrated at the obstacles the American principles embodied in our Constitution and our traditions place in the pathway to their hideous progressive Utopia, so they seek to undercut these principles at every turn.

They don’t even try to hide it any more. Here are just a few examples:
