GAO Report: Obamacare Adds $6.2 Trillion to Long-Term Deficit

GAO Report: Obamacare Adds $6.2 Trillion to Long-Term Deficit

NationalReview

By Andrew Stiles | View the video

Obamacare will increase the long-term federal deficit by $6.2 trillion, according to a Government Accountability Office report that will be released today.

Senator Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.), who requested the report, revealed the findings this morning at a Senate Budget Committee hearing. The report, he said, “confirms everything critics and Republicans were saying about the faults of this bill,” and “dramatically proves that the promises made assuring the nation that the largest new entitlement program in history would not add one dime to the deficit were false.”

President Obama and other Democrats attempted to win support for the health-care bill by touting it as a fiscally responsible enterprise. “I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits — either now or in the future,” Obama told a joint-session of Congress in September 2009. “I will not sign it if it adds one dime to the deficit, now or in the future, period.”

The new report exposes the “lack of honesty” surrounding such claims, Sessions argued. “This is how a country goes broke,” he said.

Forbes: As Country Club Republicans Link Up With The Democratic Ruling Class, Millions Of Voters Are Orphaned

As Country Club Republicans Link Up With The Democratic Ruling Class, Millions Of Voters Are Orphaned

"In sum, the closer one gets to the Republican Party’s voters, the more the Party looks like Goldwater and Reagan. The closer one gets to its top, the more it looks like the ghost of Rockefeller. Consider 2012: the party chose for President someone preferred by only one fourth of its voters – Mitt Romney, whose first youthful venture in politics had been to take part in the political blackballing of Barry Goldwater."

By Angelo Codevilla of the Claremont Institute

republicratsOn January 1, 2013 one third of Republican congressmen, following their leaders, joined with nearly all Democrats to legislate higher taxes and more subsidies for Democratic constituencies. Two thirds voted no, following the people who had elected them. For generations, the Republican Party had presented itself as the political vehicle for Americans whose opposition to ever-bigger government financed by ever-higher taxes makes them a “country class.”  Yet modern Republican leaders, with the exception of the Reagan Administration, have been partners in the expansion of government, indeed in the growth of a government-based “ruling class.” They have relished that role despite their voters. Thus these leaders gradually solidified their choice to no longer represent what had been their constituency, but to openly adopt the identity of junior partners in that ruling class. By repeatedly passing bills that contradict the identity of Republican voters and of the majority of Republican elected representatives, the Republican leadership has made political orphans of millions of Americans. In short, at the outset of 2013 a substantial portion of America finds itself un-represented, while Republican leaders increasingly represent only themselves.

Ed., With respect to our Republican friends, this is the message that the tea party "complainers" have been trying to tell you for four years. Perhaps you might "hear it" when it is expressed by an academic. If you're in fear of the incipient "third party," look here for a conceiving statement.

Battle for Control of the Republican Party Begins

by Phyllis Schlafly  |  February 13, 2013

Karl Rove has declared war on grassroots conservatives and Tea Parties. Rove, who had the richest Super PAC in 2012 (American Crossroads, which reportedly spent $300 million in the 2012 election cycle), has started a new fund called Conservative Victory Project to spend big bucks in the 2014 Republican primaries to defeat Republican candidates not approved by the Establishment.

Rove’s big-money spending last year, which was similarly designed to help only Establishment candidates, especially if they had defeated a real conservative in the primary, was notoriously unsuccessful. Of the 31 races in which Rove aired TV ads, Republicans won only 9, so his donors got little return on their investment.

Establishment losers included Rick Berg who lost in North Dakota and Denny Rehberg who lost in Montana, even while Romney was carrying both those states. Other Establishment losers were George Allen in Virginia, Tommy Thompson in Wisconsin, Connie Mack in Florida, and Heather Wilson in New Mexico.

Meanwhile, Rove was helping Harry Reid to keep control of the Senate by trying to defeat real conservatives nominated by grassroots Republicans. Rove made nasty and hurtful remarks about conservative candidates he didn’t like.

The Tea Party response to the State of the Union Address

The Tea Party response to the State of the Union Addrress

We hear it over and over again from wishful political pundits, the mainstream media, and both political parties that the Tea Party is dead.  With President Obama winning re-election, our opposition has been emboldened and all too eager to write our obituary.  Not so fast.  Now is our time to prove the pundits wrong!

10 Reasons to Avoid Regional Plans #tcot

10 Reasons to Avoid Regional Plans

by John Anthony | Feb. 06, 2013

Planning is not a one-size-fits-all exercise. Yet, that is exactly what regional plans attempt, while gradually silencing local officials and the public.planners

Here are 10 reasons to avoid implementing regional plans and councils. Cleaner Greener NY [1], also called the Capital Region Sustainability Plan [2], is a model of why community members and local public officials must work together and say “NO” to regionalization and regional planning.

See how many apply to your region’s proposal.

1. Planners gain miniscule community participation when forming the regions, the plans or the councils

There over 1 million residents in the proposed Capital Region Sustainability Plan (CRSP). Despite claims of “stakeholder engagement” (CRSP p26), less than 300 participated in planners’ workshops. In CRSP surveys, only 96 people, or less than .0001 percent of residents participated. (CRSP Appendix 16, p11)

2. Plans are prepackaged and do not represent unique community needs.

In spite of claims to the contrary, most plans encompass the same government sponsored top-down “livability” control features. CRSP includes the same “livable communities” (p99), fewer vehicle miles traveled (p128), and increased compact living (p105) as most regional plans. Cleaner Greener NY (CGNY) further promises the government and non-governmental organization pushed (NGO) standbys of virtually every plan: confiscation of open spaces (p75), forced environmental justice (p58), hi-speed rails (p63), and dilution of privately controlled farmland interests through conservation easements (p90).

3. Plans do not protect individual property rights.

Few regional plans mention the potential individual property rights infringements, tax increases or loss of potential wealth accumulation inherent in most proposals. None offers any method for protection against such losses. The CRSP contains no enforceable landowner protections.

Bozell: Karl Rove vs. the 'Far Right' #tcot

Bozell: Karl Rove vs. the 'Far Right'

By Brent Bozell

If I were launching a new conservative venture, the last venue I'd choose for the announcement would be the New York Times. Karl Rove has gone to the Times to announce that he has created a new "conservative" entity "to recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts."

Rove argues that Republican fortunes have been ruined by "far-right conservatives," but he's shamelessly calling this entity the "Conservative Victory Project." Yes, and I could call myself Ray Lewis, but it doesn't make it so.

Whaddaya know? The liberal Democrats at the Times love this idea. They call it "the most robust attempt yet by Republicans to impose a new sense of discipline on the party." They would love a group to "discipline" conservatives right out of the GOP nominating process. What the heck? They could call themselves "conservative," too.

The Big Picture

*|INSTAPAPER:|*
When the monetary system collapses, who will be holding the "real" value?

If you are still confused about how "smart meters" fit in with the idea of a "one-world government," and a push for "energy credits," we invite you to view this man's view of current events. The lecture is well worth your time, but please start it, and if you are not engaged after a few minutes, just stop the play and continue with your life... for now.

Watch this highly researched and shocking explanation of SMART Meters and how they fit into "Technocracy."  Patrick Wood explains at the 2011 Eagle Forum Conference in Santa Rosa, CA. [8-27-11]

The latest article from Tom DeWeese confirms the scope of these types of "plans" for you future and for the governance of world events. Your elected representative refuse to hear these facts, even though they are openly published by "reputable" organizations.

If you want some more information on Smart Meters, download your "opt-out" letter template HERE and examine the issue at Freedom Advocates, or Sustainable Freedom Lab.

Patriot Post

"Another not unimportant consideration is, that the powers of the general government will be, and indeed must be, principally employed upon external objects, such as war, peace, negotiations with foreign powers, and foreign commerce. In its internal operations it can touch but few objects, except to introduce regulations beneficial to the commerce, intercourse, and other relations, between the states, and to lay taxes for the common good. The powers of the states, on the other hand, extend to all objects, which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, and liberties, and property of the people, and the internal order, improvement, and prosperity of the state."

Rick Scott: Still Too Many Questions Remain on Federal Health Care Law #tcot

Rick Scott: Still Too Many Questions Remain on Federal Health Care Law

By: JIM TURNER | Posted: February 1, 2013 SSN

Gov. Rick Scott isn’t ready to embrace the federal health care law, at least not yet.

In releasing his $74.2 billion spending plan and agenda for 2013 on Thursday, Scott proposes the state cover individuals now eligible for Medicaid coverage but not currently on the health care rolls, as required by the Affordable Care Act.

But Scott said the state still doesn’t have enough information about the optional expansion of the state Medicaid program to offer any firm direction for legislators who are now studying the law known as Obamacare that the Republican and business community in Tallahassee have long fought.
